How old can I wear ok glasses?
Ok glasses are a popular kind of glasses recently, which are mainly used to correct myopia and slow down the deepening of myopia. Many children and teenagers will wear ok glasses. There are certain restrictions on the wearing of ok glasses. Only suitable for people aged eight to forty, not suitable for people of other ages to wear ok glasses.

How old can I wear ok glasses when I am 8-40 years old? ?

OK glasses are suitable for people aged 8-40, with true myopia of 50-600 degrees, normal corneal curvature, normal intraocular pressure, no eye diseases, no eye inflammation and eyelid dysfunction.

Orthokeratology lens (OK lens) is a kind of contact lens. By physically leveling and reshaping the central corneal area, the central corneal diopter can be reduced, thus improving the naked eye vision during the day and delaying the rapid development of myopia.

OK lens corrects vision through corneal plasticity. This is a kind of hard contact lens. It will be better to wear it for a while at night.

The main reason why it is recommended for children over 8 years old is that preschool children's intelligence, expression and cognition are not very accurate, which increases the risk of wearing OK glasses. But I'm not sure if children under 8 are allowed to wear it. As long as children have good cognition and clear expression, parents can well understand the working principle of OK glasses and spend more energy than ordinary people to carefully observe their children's wearing. People can still wear OK glasses.

It is recommended for people under 40 years old to wear it, mainly because the function of human eyes declines with the increase of age, especially affecting the corneal endothelium worn by OK lenses. The number of endothelial cells per unit area of cornea is negatively correlated with age (as shown in the following figure). The lower the number of endothelial cells per unit area, the higher the corneal variation index, and the less suitable for wearing OK glasses. However, this is not an absolute taboo. If you need some special jobs, you can still wear OK glasses according to the real-time health of your eyes and have a careful examination. If there is any possibility of abnormality, you can stop using OK glasses in time and follow up closely.

Of course, it should also be pointed out that people often expose their presbyopia after 40 years old. Wearing OK glasses also requires higher adjustment of near vision. Therefore, when checking OK glasses, we can consider appropriately reducing the gap to meet the needs of myopia without affecting hyperopia, or wearing reading glasses to observe myopia.
