When do willows bloom (how do willows bloom)
Willow is a native tree species in China, which has wide adaptability to the environment and good ornamental value, so it is often planted in gardens, schools, factories, hillsides, courtyards and roadsides. So when will the willow blossom? How to plant willow? Let's get to know each other.

When will the willow blossom?

Willow usually blooms in March-April every year, and the flowering period is about 30-40 days. Its color is light yellow, not very bright, but it is also very beautiful.

How to plant willow?

Willow can generally be planted by cutting propagation, which is simple, easy to operate, with high survival rate and convenient management. The specific points are as follows:

1, cutting the substrate

Humus soil can be selected, disinfected and sterilized several months in advance. Humidify humus soil with 500 times of formaldehyde solution, knead it by hand and disperse it by hand. At the same time, it will be piled for 3 months and used after being decomposed.

2. Cutting selection

Cuttings should be annual seedlings with no pests and diseases, no mechanical damage, high lignification degree, full lateral buds and diameter of 1- 1.5 cm. When cutting cuttings, the cuttings should be taken from the middle of the seed cuttings, with the upper incision at the tip of 1 cm and the lower incision cut into horseshoe shape at 0.5 cm below the tooth root. Cuttings are about 15 cm long, leaving 3-4 buds.

3. Cutting time

Willow pruning is recommended in spring and autumn every year. At this time, the climate is most suitable for the growth of willow, and it is more conducive to rooting after cutting.

4. Cutting method

Before cutting, the cuttings should be soaked in 1: 800- 1000 times carbendazim solution for about 1 hour, and then cut after drying. Generally, the direct insertion method can be used, with 3500-3600 cuttings per mu, and the buds on the cuttings are flush with the ground. After insertion, water a little to keep the soil moist, and then maintain it in a semi-cool and ventilated environment.

5. Post-cutting management

(1) topdressing: topdressing once a month from May to July, and applying 25 kilograms of urea or compound fertilizer per mu each time.

(2) Plant management: In the fast-growing period, the new axillary buds on the seedling trunk often adopt lateral technology. In order to ensure the growth of the trunk, except for three-fifths of the branches, the axillary buds on the trunk of the lower seedlings should be erased by stages in time. In addition, the budding lateral branches should be pulled out, split and pruned in time to avoid affecting the growth of the trunk.

(3) Other key points: Before the cuttings take root, they should be shaded and maintained to prevent the branches from losing water. After the branches take root, the light can be gradually strengthened to promote the growth of seedlings. At the same time, attention should be paid to the prevention and control of pests and diseases in the process of seedling raising.

Generally speaking, although willow is a foliage plant, it can also blossom. If you want to plant willow as an ornamental, it is recommended to master its cutting propagation technology.
