Bougainvillea is a plant that likes high temperature and intensity, so potted bougainvillea should always be kept in sufficient sunshine. This is not only beneficial to its vegetative growth, but also beneficial to its reproductive growth. The plants treated by strong sunlight have short internodes, full growth, large flowers, dark colors and long flowering periods.
Two. Diligent pruning
Bougainvillea has a long growth period and a fast growth rate, so it must be pruned and pitted in time to fix and maintain the plant shape.
Picking the heart also helps to promote the development of new branches and make them blossom more, because flowers only bloom at the top of new branches.
Pruning is usually carried out in spring and summer. Pruning after mid-August will affect flowering and should not be carried out again. Pruning objects are internal branches, twigs, long branches, cross branches, etc. Some long branches should also be cut with 1~2 buds.
Three. Strictly control water
Bougainvillea bougainvillea should start stagnant water 4~5 weeks before flowering (that is, around mid-August). Water it once, and the leaves and buds will droop before watering. The degree of water conservation is based on the fact that plants do not die. Repeat this process until the embryonic form of flowers appears between the branches and axils, and then gradually return to normal watering. Keeping water increases the concentration of cell fluid, thus promoting the differentiation and formation of flower buds.
Four. Skilled fertilization
Bougainvillea is very sensitive to urea, and if it is not properly fertilized, it may lead to the phenomenon that leaves are flourishing and flowers are few, so it is necessary to be particularly cautious when applying urea.
Spring is the vegetative growth period of bougainvillea, and urea can be applied every other week. This can not only supplement the consumption of plants after flowering, but also promote the growth of new branches and lay a good foundation for reproductive growth.
Thin liquid fertilizer should be applied in summer, and 0.2%~0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be used as foliar topdressing once every half a month when conditions permit. Urea still needs to be applied once in the early stage of flower branch growth to facilitate the growth of flower branches.
