Is it still me inside?
Larry mentioned above that when he met Dennis himself, he had endured more than 60 major and minor operations. Even after a year, it is still sad to see his face. The extent of his burns is much more serious than Dennis thought. But if you listen to him, you will think that he just burned a finger while barbecuing in the backyard. Dennis accompanied him to see a therapist and watched him endure extreme pain, so that the therapist could straighten, bend and massage his fingers, so that he could move his fingers correctly and restore the tendons of his fingers to the right direction.

When he saw Dennis afraid to look him in the eye, he said, "Don't worry, it's still me inside ... it's just a temporary decoration outside." He told Dennis that as long as you have full confidence and can really know yourself from the inside out, you won't be depressed when some unexpected events threaten you from the outside in. He said that it was difficult for people in his hometown to cope with his situation. In order to reassure everyone, he always wears a ski mask to restaurants, banks and shops in town during painful skin transplantation and plastic surgery. "They still looked at me with a smile," he recalled. "But now they are curious about me and are not as scared as before." He continued, "Besides, after wearing the ski mask, I am encouraging myself to recover as soon as possible and then indulge myself on the ski slope." Dennis was thinking that when he first walked into the bank wearing a ski mask, the cashier at the bank met him. I don't know what he thought.

Larry is such a young man. His career and life were going well, but suddenly, his world was reduced to ashes. Why hasn't he been knocked down or collapsed? Thousands of young people end their lives every year simply because they can't cope with the changes in the environment. This reminds Dennis of the thousands of complaints he has heard from some sad people. Dennis thought of the sentence "Sorrow always likes to find someone to keep company". Many people complain endlessly about their lives, mainly because they subconsciously want to drag others into the same sad situation as themselves.

Larry proudly explained to Dennis how the doctor rebuilt his leg. They transplanted skin cut from other parts of his body into his calves and buttocks. When Dennis met him again, he was completely able to use his hands and feet-he even resumed skiing-and now he is one of the most successful stockbrokers in Texas.

On the way home, Dennis looked out of the window, trying to understand Larry's incredible optimism. He believed that since Larry was born in good health, lived in a prosperous and wealthy America and had strong spiritual beliefs, he certainly wouldn't let an accident crush him. Dennis can't forget what Larry said to him before he left: "It's obviously easier to restore what you knew before than to become a person you don't know."

Later, Dennis finally had a chance to apply his teaching about confidence. His house on Mount La Jolla was destroyed by fire, and he lost all his property. Fortunately, no one died, even the goldfish and two turtles named "Lightning" and "Ben Lei" were safe and sound.

When relatives and friends expressed their comfort to Dennis, Dennis began to design a new house, preparing to build a modern kitchen, a wardrobe that people could walk in, and designed a game room for children. Now, whenever any misfortune attacks Dennis, he just says, "No problem, we just have a temporary inconvenience."
