There are two common double eyelid surgery practices, one is catgut embedding, and the other is surgical incision. Catgut embedding method is suitable for cases where the upper eyelid is thin, the skin elasticity is good, or the skin does not need to be removed too much. The advantages of catgut embedding method are less trauma, faster recovery and more natural after operation. The other is incision, which is also called total incision now. As the name implies, it is to cut the upper eyelid and remove certain subcutaneous tissue, including the orbicularis oculi muscle. For the case that the upper eyelid is slack, the skin is bloated, or there is a lot of fat swelling, and some tissues need to be removed, incision is generally chosen, because only incision can remove a certain amount of skin. Incision surgery is characterized by relatively accurate surgical effect, but relatively heavy trauma and slow postoperative recovery. Double eyelid surgery, besides catgut embedding and incision, there are many concepts on the market now, such as Korean three-point surgery, nano-minimally invasive double eyelid surgery, etc. In fact, they are misleading or a propaganda concept, and some of them are flexible on the basis of traditional surgery.
