Generally, it takes 10 ~ 15 years after planting, which mainly depends on the growth condition and planting environment of cypress. From May to June, cypress trees grow vigorously, and the bark is easy to peel off, heal and regenerate, which is the best peeling time. In order to ensure the sustainable utilization of cypress, the method of girdling living trees is usually adopted, so that cypress can continue to grow and regenerate new bark after peeling.

After peeling cypress, water and fertilizer management and pruning should be strengthened to ensure that cypress can grow well. After three years of maintenance, the bark can be restored to normal thickness and can be peeled again.
