The pruning method of pothos is divided into three parts: topping, short cutting and spring pruning.

1. Topping treatment

The growth of green radish is relatively strong, so it needs to be topping in the early stages of growth, so as to control its growth. When the stems and vines grow to 20 cm, , you need to remove the top stem tip, and then wait until the branch stem grows 3-4 pairs of true leaves for the second topping.

2. Short-cut processing

Pothos is relatively resistant to pruning, so during the vigorous growth period, it needs to be short-cut, which can reduce excessive consumption of nutrients. Cut off about 10 cm of long branches and vines, leaving 8-10 cm of each branch.

3. Spring pruning

Spring pruning of pothos is mainly based on plastic pruning. When the stems and vines grow too much, cut off 2-3 main stems by about 40 cm. However, the new shoots on the branched stems must also be thinned out. When pruning, be sure to keep the height of the cuts staggered.

Precautions after pruning the pothos

1. Pay attention to fertilizing after pruning

Usually after pruning the pothos, it is best not to fertilize because it is easy to fertilize. To make the green radish branches grow faster, you need to prune again. However, you still need to fertilize every half a month, otherwise it will affect its growth needs, but it is best not to fertilize in winter.

2. Pay attention to frost protection when pruning in winter

Pothos likes to live in a warm environment. In winter, you should pay attention to keeping hydroponic pothos warm to prevent frostbite, but it should not be too close to heating equipment. The leaves of hydroponic pothos are delicate and very sensitive to temperature changes, so try to keep the room temperature as normal as possible.
