Where is the origin of red Fuji apple?
Red Fuji is the general name of color strain Fu selected from the bud (branch) transformation of common red Fuji. Fuji apple is an excellent apple variety bred in 1939 by crossing Guoguang as female parent and Marshal as male parent in Morioka branch of fruit experimental field of Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. After more than 20 years, it has the advantages of late maturity, good quality, delicious taste and storage resistance. Officially named 1962, it is the most famous late-maturing apple variety in the world. Although Fuji fruit has the advantages of good flavor, late maturity and storability, it also has the disadvantages of color difference. To this end, many colorful Fuji buds were selected from all over Japan, collectively known as Red Fuji.

China introduced Fuji apples from 1966. 1 In the spring of 980, when the Ministry of Agriculture organized relevant experts to visit Japan, they selectively introduced seedlings and scions of several Fuji strains with better colors, such as Changfu No.2, Qiu Fu1and Changfu No.6, and arranged for systematic observation and research in several pilot areas in the main apple producing areas. Today, Fuji apples have grown to nearly one million hectares in China, and have replaced the late-maturing variety Guoguang in Liaoning, Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Tianjin, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Gansu and other provinces and cities.
