How to prune the Chinese rose?
Pruning method of Chinese rose:

1, pruning after the first flower

After the first flowering of Chinese rose, the time is generally from the end of April to the middle of May in spring. After the rose blooms, you can gently cut the second leaf under the flower, and after cutting, there will be side branches. Most varieties will sprout in about 40 days, with seven leaves on the side branches. Pruning after Chinese rose flower needs to keep the plant shape symmetrical, and at the same time, it can promote the second flowering of Chinese rose in June to be more orderly.

This pruning principle

For the first time, you usually have to cut weak branches, high branches, strong branches and short branches. Even the weaker branches should be cut to the first compound leaf with 5 leaflets under the flower, and a strong bud should be left in the future. For very vigorous branches, you can cut off 1/3 to 1/2, but not more than 1/2, otherwise the lower axillary buds will be late, resulting in uneven bloom of the second batch, and two strong buds will be left in the future.

2. Prune after the second flower.

After the second batch of flowers, the rose will enter the high temperature rainy season, and most varieties of rose will be in a semi-dormant state. The new branches that have been drawn out one after another are complex and delicate, and the flowering quality is poor. During this period, there is no need for hard cutting, only the endogenous overlapping branches and buds need to be removed to keep the ventilated and light-transmitting plant shape. If necessary, remove the buds and keep the strong branches.

The pruning time should be at the end of August or early September. Generally, it is best to apply fertilizer once within three days after pruning, so that the flower seedlings can have sufficient nutrients to grow.

3, dormant pruning

Pruning time is from the winter of late June to around 65438+February, and the Chinese rose enters the dormant period. Therefore, choose the stout flower branches that grow in spring and summer, leave 2-3 buds upward from the base, and the rest branches can be cut off. Try to cut off weak branches, withered old branches, cross branches and rhizome sprouting branches. The old leaves left on the branches may contain many eggs of overwintering bacteria and pests.

So be sure to pick it up and clean it up, or you will not enjoy the rose next year, but the tree worm.

In addition, we must take good care of the weak branches and strong branches when pruning, so that they are highly consistent after germination in the next spring, and the rose will bloom more neatly in the future, greatly improving the ornamental value.
