1, bud grafting
Bud grafting is often used in northern plum grafting. Select the robust branches of 1-2 years, and take the plump axillary buds in the middle and upper parts as scions. First, cut a knife about 0.5 cm above the axillary bud and reach the xylem, then cut it vertically from the left and right usually long places, cut it into a shield shape, flatten the back and remove its xylem. Cut a T-shaped cut with a height of 5-6 cm on the rootstock, insert the scion into it and tie it tightly with plastic strips.
Step 2 plug in
The splitting method is relatively simple. Split the top of the rootstock from the middle to a depth of 2-3 cm. Choose healthy plum branches with buds on them, which are generally smaller in diameter than rootstocks. Cut its bottom into a wedge shape, then insert it into the incision of the rootstock and wrap it with plastic film to avoid the entry of air and moisture.
3. Abdominal connection
Abdominal grafting is similar to bud grafting, and it is obliquely cut from the rootstock epidermis without cutting, and the depth is about 2-3 cm. Choose the right branches, which should not be too long, cut the bottom into wedges, insert them into the rootstock incision to ensure the arc-shaped layer to fit, and then wrap them with plastic film.
The grafting time of plum blossom is usually in summer or autumn, July-August in summer and September-10 in autumn. At this time, the temperature is higher, and rootstocks and scions are easier to heal in all things. If the temperature is too low, it will affect their survival. It should be noted that grafting should generally avoid the rainy season, because too much rain is not conducive to plant recovery.
