How to perform cervical reduction?
Take the patient's spinous process as an example, let the patient sit on a low stool, with the doctor standing behind him and palpating with his thumb, from top to bottom. Because the atlas (the first cervical vertebra) has no spinous process, you can touch the spinous process of the second to seventh cervical vertebrae in turn. The curved spinous process often has tenderness. Hold the chest against the patient's pillow, hold his jaw with the front of his right elbow, pull it up, turn right appropriately, and push it to the left with the thumb end of his left hand against the right side of the deviated spinous process, so that you can hear the noise or feel the movement when the deviated spinous process is reset. After reset, put the head in the middle position and check again. If it is not reset, repeat the above operation. If the deviated spinous process has been reset, the soft tissue on the back of the neck can be treated by massage and tendon adjustment. After treatment, patients should rest for a few days to avoid working at their desks. Patients with unstable cervical spine should be externally fixed with neck circumference to maintain posture. For cases with stiff neck and back muscles or severe pain, muscle relaxation or anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs can be taken orally before treatment, and physical therapy or hot compress can be carried out. Treatment can only be carried out after the muscle spasm is relieved and the pain is relieved, and forced reduction is prohibited. If the cervical reduction technique is improper, it may strain the neck muscles and even cause cervical fracture. Be careful if you reset yourself at home. I wish you the best of health!
