Creative background:
Huang Hong chose to write a sketch script because his home was being renovated at that time, and he himself experienced the life of a migrant worker.
Huang Hong originally planned to invite three CCTV hosts to guest play the three roles played by Lin Yongjian, but he was worried that the participation of the hosts would weaken the performance elements of the sketch. If three professional actors are changed, they are afraid that they will feel that their roles are small, so some people put forward "playing three roles at a time" to solve the problem.
Because Lin Yongjian once played three roles in little theatre drama's Who's a Man written by Feng Jicai, Huang Hong first thought of him. On February 28th, 2004, Lin Yongjian received a phone call from Huang Hong and invited him to participate in the performance of Decoration, so he made a special trip back to Beijing from Taiyuan to rehearse with Huang Hong and Gong Hanlin for a day and was inspected by the director of the crew.
