Early experience
1984101October 29th Wang Yi was born in Zuoyun, Shanxi, China, and studied painting with his father since childhood. After that, I studied at Datong Culture and Art School. After finishing my studies, I went to Daqingshan alone and created sketches with enthusiasm. A drawing board and a pencil depict the future spring on the drawing paper.
Between ideal and reality, I have fallen into many difficulties. I used to be an apprentice in a barber shop, a handyman in a small restaurant and a part-time worker in the street. After that, I stopped at a grocery store to help deliver the goods. During these eight months, he inadvertently saw the TV series "San Mao Wandering" between classes. The young man who wants to be an oil painter sprouted the idea of turning a single painting into a feature film.
The grocery store gradually lost business and was forced to close down. Wang Yi and another partner went to work in a fruit shop in Bameng. However, the idea of integrating stories into painting has slowly taken root in his mind. At the end of the year, everyone went home for the Spring Festival, and Wang Yi began to re-plan his life. When the workers came to the fruit shop to start work with the joy of the Spring Festival, Wang Yi packed his bags and decided to go back to his hometown to continue his studies.
Back to Zuoyun, I missed the art test that year. In order to improve her level, Wang Yi went to Taiyuan Jinfeng Art School to study and wait for the exam preparation next year. In the second year, as a social youth, he participated in the unified examination of Shanxi fine arts, and was admitted to the film and television animation major of Zhongyuan Institute of Technology in September. Unfortunately, He, the top student in this major, went to junior college because he got 4 points worse in the undergraduate course of culture. But fortunately, his major happens to be film and television animation.
At school, Wang Yi organized an animation experimental crew to shoot the first paper-cut cartoon "My home is Ningning", which was unsuccessful. Unwilling to admit defeat, he rewrote the script and filmed "I didn't get anything this fall", which was incorporated into the College Students Art Festival in this city.
Then, he began to plan "poison disaster" and "supermarket cruelty incident", but they all failed. Not afraid of failure, he continued to create the experimental cartoon Laughter and Mourning, which was shot in 2005. With the previous failure experience and the opportunity to contact people living at the grassroots level during his wandering career, his later works are basically based on small people, small environment and small life.
At the end of 2005, a two-dimensional comic book "Happiness is Next Door" was drafted. After half a year's cycle, the shooting was completed in April 2006. This film has been affirmed by friends and colleagues in the industry. It also made Wang Yi firmly believe in doing original cartoons in post-classical creation.
In June 2006, Wang Yi graduated from Zhongyuan Institute of Technology with a major in film and television animation. Joined a two-dimensional paperless animation company in Zhengzhou as an assistant director. At work, he realized that his ability was still very shallow. Three months later, he chose to give up and prepare for further study to improve his level.
In September of that year, he entered Cheng Dapeng Digital Media Studio of Central Academy of Fine Arts for further study. Later, he created a three-dimensional cartoon "Reunion-Dedicated to Grandparents", which was filmed in early June of the following year and graduated.
Leave school and go south to Shenzhen to enter 13 3D animation series Poseidon Wall and 52 3D animation series Dream of China Legend. Subsequently, he established 1703 animation studio with senior animators in the industry to create a trilogy of fairy tale animation series. The prequel Muxianguo, the prequel Tiantai Fairy City, the prequel Alien Pet Garden, and the environmental protection animated short film Good Life. He also directed the 3D cartoon SeyitOnbasi for Turkish officials and the original 3D cartoon "The Last Leaf in Life" for the studio.
Later, he co-authored the story outline of the three-dimensional cartoon "Old Cat Mountain and Lake" with well-known domestic animation writers, and served as the director to create an animation script and draw a shot version. In 2009, 5438+returned to Beijing to settle down at the end of June, and cooperated with some commercial animation companies to create a 4D animated film "Warm Winter" with the theme of greenhouse effect and a 4D sci-fi animated film short film "Crying on U Planet".
Wang Yi wrote "Who is invited to understand the animation industry in China? "Who is the glory of China animation?" "China animation should reflect!" "Please forgive China animation, that's all!" Such as animation papers, has been well received by friends in the industry. With his years of creative experience, he wrote "Talking about the Making of Animation Short Films! The tutorial provides a way for animation lovers who like to create independently. From June 5438 to February 2007, Wang Yi, a 24-year-old director, was awarded the title of "Hope of China Animation Industry". , accepted an interview with Tencent QZONE grassroots blog interview room.
He is at the corner of frustration and life, keeping calm and sticking to himself. It is an indispensable force in the domestic original animation industry.
Creative characteristics
Wang Yi is a folk independent animation director, who is mainly committed to telling the traditional culture of China in an international language.
He is good at creating inspirational cartoons with strong stories, and is praised as "the youngest cartoon director in China" by friends and peers in the industry.
He has been paying attention to the groups living at the grassroots level, creating for them and making progress with them. Wang Yi often said to the creative team: We should pay more attention to people living at the grassroots level, they are the people we really need to care about. And those celebrities we often admire, they have no worries about food and clothing. We should dedicate our love to those who need help and care. Art is just a carrier. We need to use this expression to appeal to everyone to dedicate our love to those in need. Therefore, he often likes to observe and explore these people who live at the grassroots level and work hard with his own unique eyes, and grow up with them with actions.
On the road of exploration and development of domestic animation industry, Wang Yi insists on his own unique animation style. As he wrote in his motto: "I dedicated my youth to art ~"
Character sculpture
The statue of director Wang Yi is now in Sun Chunhui's Studio 6, created by a young sculptor Sun Chunhui. The work abandons the traditional bronze and white, and uses the most fashionable colors to interpret the youthful vitality and calm and rigorous style of a young director.
The whole sculpture looks radiant and full of vitality, giving the viewer a youthful and charming affinity. Show the hero's high-spirited and passionate spirit of the times.
The lines of the work are clear and the outline is clear. Instead of completely restoring the craftsmanship of real people, they choose to give viewers the most intuitive impression in form, and describe the inner world of the protagonist with expressions, reflecting the burning passion of the two young artists for art and their desire for creation, and relaxing in sensibility and rationality. It also represents the constant pursuit of innovation and fashion in these new programs.

Works review
_ "I have no harvest this autumn"
In 2004, just after the school curriculum had a script foundation, Wang Yi wrote a story about "I got nothing this autumn".
In order to make this film, he organized some students to set up an animation experimental crew. Before the students were exposed to how to draw animation, he took the lead in making it in the form of clay sculpture, and was also shortlisted for the College Students Art Festival in this city.
From the picture quality to the professional level, this work is obviously not a mature work, or even just a student's homework. However, Wang Yi's expression of the story and the humanistic spirit conveyed to the audience are in the same strain as his later works. It can also be said that Wang Yi's image world is a successful attempt of this film.
_ "Mourning with a smile"
Mourning with Laughter is Wang Yi's second work. This work represents Wang Yi's longing for his hometown and deep homesickness.
This film describes a simple funeral in an ordinary village.
I have seen many movies about funeral themes, all of which are related to national feelings and human history. They are all arranged with grand narrative structure and deliberately packaged expressions. Wang Yi's seemingly unpretentious funeral in this film reflects a custom and belief in the north that is easily overlooked by urbanites.
People are too eager to feel the most profound things, which leads to the impetuousness and shallowness of the times. Only by facing the real life and the initial life can we understand why this simple work without a story will touch people's hearts.
The whole work uses a single tone and no dialogue. There is only one subtitle at the back of the film: I smiled as soon as Grandpa left. Now that my childhood has passed, where is my smile?
At this time, we saw the true feelings, the lonely face of a child and the confusion in the face of urban traffic.
_ "Happiness is next door"
In April, 2006, Wang Yi finished his graduation creation "Happiness is Next Door".
The popularity of this film is enough to distinguish it from the two petty bourgeoisie works mentioned above. It is this work that won him more recognition from people in the industry and peers, and laid the foundation for him to insist on making original animation in the future.
It is also a feature film about love, but it does not preach the sacredness and greatness of love, but praises a unrequited love with wishful fantasy.
A young man from a small county, facing the campus he is about to leave, wants to reach out and grasp the fragile interpersonal relationship, and is eager for food and clothing and food brought by industrial civilization. There is a yearning for believing in love, and there is also confusion caused by worries about the future. Fear of being taken away by reality, or miss the innocence and ideals in your own world.
This contradiction between reality and ideal also happens to young people in every era. Generation after generation of young people have experienced such youth.
_ "The Last Leaf in Life"
What really made Wang Yi known to more people was his work The Last Leaf in Life, which was adapted from the short story The Last Ivy Leaf written by American writer O Henry in 2009.
With the help of a nobody's perspective, this film reflects people's anxiety and fear of the unknown in this material age under the background of the financial crisis at that time.
After nothing happened, the hero was brought back to the original safe world by a magical leaf and returned to the track of life.

Personality assessment
Wang Yi, I have the impression that she has a very clear and ambitious ambition and is very persistent. My second impression is that I have a lot of temperament and a strong artist temperament. To sum up, I am very optimistic about him. (Huang Wei, Vice President of Hunan Children's Calligraphy and Painting Association)
Shining on you, but better than blue. (Evaluation by film director Wu Ming)
I have guessed that it is possible that he himself is the synthesis of those characters in his pen; Reserved and easily influenced; Occasionally emotional impulse, persistent self-struggle. This is the Wang Yi I know that no one can pester. (Evaluation by Professor Xie Xiaofeng of Shandong University)
In my initial impression, Wang Yi is a quiet, polite, patient, careful and self-perfectionist. At a young age, he doesn't have the common impetuous and easy-to-give-up nature of young people, but he also has the frivolous and uncompromising characteristics of young people, so he can get a glimpse of the basics of this person walking on the glorious road. In the future, I hope he can continue to sublimate and sharpen his own advantages, show his personal style and charm, and smear his brilliance among his peers. (Evaluation by Malaysian director Huang Meishan)
