The feature construction toolbar appears whenever you click the map with a sketch tool that can be used to create line segments, such as the line or polygon tool. This toolbar provides shortcuts for line segment construction methods on the editor toolbar, so you can create straight or curved segments and easily access any other construction methods. When you click the map, the feature construction toolbar will follow where you clicked.
The feature construction toolbar also contains commands that can be used to create line segments that are parallel or perpendicular to existing features. For example, if you click the constraint parallel? , and then click a feature, the next line segment in the sketch will be parallel to the feature you clicked. When you move the pointer, the length of the line segment changes, but its angle remains the same. To clear sketch constraints, press ESC.
Although the feature construction toolbar may be most commonly used when creating new features, it is also useful when editing existing features using sketches (for example, when trimming or splitting lines or faces). For example, if you want to modify the shape of a face, you can click the shape feature tool on the editor toolbar. ;
