1, genetic factors
At present, the etiology of polydactyly is not fixed, and it varies from patient to patient, which is very complicated. The etiology of polydactyly is mostly genetic factors, and about 2/3 have a family history of hereditary diseases and atavism.
2. Environmental factors
Environmental factors are also related to polydactyly, a considerable part of which is caused by environmental factors and is the focus of population prevention. Environmental factors, such as some drugs, virus infection, trauma, the stimulation of radioactive substances, especially the pollution of modern industry, can all become teratogenic factors.
Clinical manifestations of polydactyly
1. Children were found to have redundant fingers at birth, with different types and severity of deformities, and some of them were connected to normal fingers only through narrow pedicles wrapped around blood vessels and nerves.
2. Some have nails, bones and joints, tendons, vascular nerve bundles, certain finger movements and sensory functions, and it is difficult to choose surgery.
3. Even some deformities are as serious as "crab claws", fingers are stunted, and fingers are small and crooked, which seriously affects the appearance and function of hands.
Treatment and prevention of polydactyly
1, treatment
Keep the fingers with normal appearance and function, and remove the redundant fingers with obvious deformity and poor function. The timing of operation depends on the specific situation of multiple fingers.
(1) The redundant fingers are only composed of thin soft tissue fingers and can be removed.
(2) Patients with finger attachment can be operated at the age of 6. When finger attachment is removed, tendon and joint capsule can be repaired at the same time, and epiphysis, blood vessels and nerves should not be damaged during the operation.
(3) Complete polydactyly, it is best to perform osteotomy or fusion correction after epiphyseal development stops.
(4) The redundant fingers appear in the middle of the hand and are connected with the original single metacarpal bone. When the redundant fingers are cut off, the redundant metacarpals are cut off.
2. Prevention
Strengthen health care and nutrition during pregnancy, avoid respiratory tract infection, gastrointestinal infection, rubella, measles, chickenpox, mumps and other viral infections during pregnancy, and avoid exposure to radiation, drugs and other factors that may cause teratogenesis.
Can babies with multiple fingers be reimbursed?
Most children are caused by congenital malformation and can be treated by surgery. It belongs to plastic surgery, and medical insurance and the new rural cooperative medical system are not reimbursed.
