(1) Use soil and fertilize. It likes humus-rich, loose and fertile soil. Garden soil, leaf humus soil, and river sand can be mixed in a ratio of 2:2:1, and a small amount of base fertilizer can be added. Repotting can be done in April. May to October is the vigorous growing season, and a small amount of decomposed liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer should be applied every half month; in autumn and winter, less or no fertilizer can be applied.
(2) Moisture. Likes humid environment. During the growing season, the soil must be kept moist and the air humidity around the plants must be kept high. For indoor cultivation, anti-transpiration agents can be sprayed on the leaves frequently. Watering follows the "dry, wet" principle. Water more appropriately in dry and hot seasons, and control watering in low temperature and rainy days. In northern areas, attention should be paid to using ferrous sulfate to adjust soil acidity. Leaves should be kept clean in winter by spraying a small amount of water or scrubbing them frequently.
(3) Light and temperature.
Likes half shade and is afraid of cold. Choose a place with strong scattered light for cultivation. The continuous display time in a dark room should not exceed 5 months, and it should be moved to a brightly lit place for about 1 month. Direct sunlight should be avoided in spring, summer and autumn. It has weak cold tolerance. In the north, it must be brought indoors in early October and placed in a sunny place for curing. The suitable temperature for growth is 25-30℃, and the night temperature in winter should be above 15℃. If it is below 8℃, it is susceptible to freezing damage, causing death in winter and spring.
(4) Shaping and pruning.
When winter enters the dormant or semi-dormant period, cut off thin, diseased, dead and overly dense branches in time.
(5) Prevention and control of pests and diseases. ① For powdery mildew, you can manually wipe off the white powder at the affected area, or spray it with 500 to 800 times of chlorothalonil. ② Red spider mites and scale insects can be regularly sprayed with omethoate EC 800 times for control.
