In April, 2000, the first "China-Korea Plastic Surgery Research Institute" was established in Southwest Hospital in cooperation with Professor Jin Dongyi, an internationally renowned maxillofacial plastic surgeon from Korea Renji Medical University, with Professor Li Shirong as its director. The two sides exchange personnel for academic and technical exchanges every year. In February, 20001year, Professor Li Shirong was hired as honorary professor by Renji Medical University.

Up to now, 1988 has published more than 400 academic papers, won more than 20 provincial, municipal and military scientific and technological achievement awards, won 9 national patents, undertaken 2 provincial and ministerial key projects and 5 national natural science foundations, and was responsible for major scientific research projects of Fibrocell Science Inc 1 (100000 yuan). He has been invited to Japan, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, France, South Korea, the United States and Hong Kong for lectures and academic exchanges. He has hosted international, national, military and regional plastic surgery academic exchanges and held plastic surgery promotion classes for many times, and has been elected as the chairman of national and international academic conferences for many times, and has trained a large number of facial makeup and plastic surgery talents for the military and outside. 28 doctoral students and 4 master students have been enrolled and trained, and they have participated in the compilation of large-scale monograph 10 (The Complete Surgery won the first prize of scientific and technological progress in the army). Editor-in-chief: 6 monographs: the first one in China, Fat Removal Plastic Surgery and Modern Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, with 4 million words, which are the latest monographs with the widest coverage in this field in China. He also edited the training textbook for plastic surgeons planned by the Ministry of Health, which is the first professional textbook in the history of China. Modern cosmetic surgery has been recognized and praised by many countries in Europe and America, and many publishing houses will publish English and German versions and sell them all over the world. The History of Plastic Surgery in China, which is currently being compiled, is planned to be completed in three years. It is a masterpiece of120,000 words, which strives to comprehensively, objectively and systematically reflect the history of plastic surgery in China, and its influence on plastic surgery in China will be immeasurable.
