What is acute angina in children?

Hello

Angitis is an acute inflammation that occurs in the isthmus and is a special type of pharyngitis. The isthmus refers to an annular structure on the vertical surface of the pharynx. The upper part is the uvula and the free edge of the soft palate on both sides, the lower part is the base of the tongue, and the left and right sides are the palatoglossal arch and the palatopharyngeal arch. These four structures together form a ring-shaped narrow part called the pharyngeal isthmus. Angina can be caused by bacteria, viruses and other germs and manifests as sore throat, dry throat, foreign body sensation, herpes, ulcers, etc. The symptoms are similar to those of acute tonsillitis.

Pediatric angina is mostly caused by coxsackie virus infection. In the early stage of the disease, children often have cold-like symptoms such as headache, high fever, drooling, fever, etc. Oral examination can show angina. Congestion, small light gray herpes with a diameter of 1-2 mm on the lingual and palate arch, soft palate, hard palate and uvula, with redness around them. After 2-3 days, they rupture into white ulcers. Herpes and ulcers may coexist at the same time. Treatment is mainly antiviral and does not require the use of antibiotics. Ribavirin granules or isatis root granules can be taken orally.
