Propagation and cultivation of creeping Sabina vulgaris
(1) Material: Platycladus orientalis bonsai is mainly artificially propagated. Cutting propagation is mostly used, which is carried out in March in spring. The cutting length is 12 ~ 15 cm, the lower part and branches are cut off, and the cutting depth is 5 ~ 6 cm. After inserting, lift the soil, water it, and build a shed for shade. Fertile and loose sandy loam is the best soil for seedbed. Water frequently in hot weather, but not too wet. It can take root in about 3 months, and the survival rate is about 90%. Grafting or layering can also be used for reproduction.

(2) Potting: ① Pot selection: Generally, purple clay pots or glazed clay pots are used for bonsai. The cliff type uses a deep thousand barrels basin, the Chen Xu type uses a shallow rectangular basin, and the curved dry type uses a medium-deep oval basin. ② Soil: The sandy loam with rich, loose and good water permeability is most suitable for creeping Sabina vulgaris, and neutral, calcareous or slightly acidic soil can adapt. (3) Planting: It is better to plant pots in March-April, or after autumn. Because the crown of Sabina vulgaris is inclined to the sunny side, attention should be paid to the fixation of root system when planting potted plants to prevent dumping. When a shallow basin is used for another dike, the roots should be fixed at the bottom of the basin with copper wires.

(3) Modeling: Sabina vulgaris branches grow naturally and the crown inclines to one side. Therefore, the modeling should not be excessively trimmed, and climbing should be the main method, and metal wire or brown wire can be used. The climbing system is mainly composed of big branches, which can be done once or many times. Branchlets can be pruned properly, and plastic surgery should be carried out in winter or early spring.
