Surgical treatment of high myopia
(1) Corneal surgery At present, excimer laser corneal refractive surgery is widely used, especially femtosecond laser, which can be used to correct high myopia. As for the longer-term effect and the impact on eye tissue, it remains to be seen.
(2) Anterior and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation.
(3) lens and intraocular lens surgery.
(4) The safety and exact effect of posterior scleral reinforcement need further observation. [5]
Other therapies
(1) Wear spectacle frames and contact lenses.
(2) Symptomatic retinal breaks should be treated by laser photocoagulation, condensation or scleral buckling.
(3) If the patient suspected of glaucoma has progressive visual field defect but no progressive myopia, it indicates that glaucoma needs treatment.
(4) The choroidal neovascularization outside or near the fovea can be treated by laser photocoagulation within a few days after fundus fluorescein imaging.
