What disinfectant is used to disinfect the plastic incision (reply)? Thank you.
At present, iodophor disinfection is used for incision disinfection, and alcohol disinfection has been stopped. Iodophor has broad-spectrum bactericidal effect, which can kill bacterial propagules, spores, fungi, protozoa and some viruses. Alcohol can only kill bacteria, not spores and viruses. Iodophor is more toxic than alcohol and prone to allergic reactions. High concentration of iodophor can cause chemical burns and is corrosive to metals, so it cannot be used for disinfection of surgical instruments. Alcohol can be used to sterilize surgical instruments. Alcohol is volatile; Iodophor is not volatile, but it is easy to decompose when exposed to light, so it needs to be stored away from light.
