Banyan bonsai in modeling, the main energy should be put on lifting the roots, forming a hanging root and exposing the claws. Of course, branches, stems and leaves cannot be ignored, because they are an inseparable whole of a tree. Branches and leaves often adopt distinctive natural styles. The branches of banyan trees are softer and take longer to bind than ordinary trees. Generally, it takes about two years to dismantle the tie.
Because the branches of banyan trees are softer than other trees, they are easy to be shaped in a flat way, so it is generally difficult to see straight banyan bonsai. Banyan leaves have big roots. I have never seen banyan trees as jungle bonsai. Some bonsai lovers often make use of the soft branches, thick and long roots and strong adaptability of banyan trees to make bent-stem, inclined-stem, cliff-shaped, tree-stone-shaped and root-lifting bonsai.
The leaves of banyan trees are generally large and not beautiful enough, so the growth should be controlled. In addition to spraying less water on the leaves, you can also pick the leaves and make them smaller. In March in the south and April in the north, the tops of branches are cut off, and then leaves are cut off from petioles to strengthen fertilizer and water management. Generally, new leaves will be born in about 25 days. The second leaf picking will take place in July. Leaves can be picked twice a year in the north, and the third time in September in the south because of the high temperature. After picking leaves several times, banyan trees become dense branches and small leaves.
2. Planting and using flowerpots
Banyan tree has strong adaptability, and can grow in acidic, neutral and slightly alkaline soil, but it is best to plant it in slightly acidic, loose, well-drained and fertile soil. Sowing is usually carried out in March-April before germination.
Banyan bonsai mostly uses purple sand pots and glazed pottery pots. The depth and style of the basin depend on the shape. You can use the cliff multi-purpose signature basin. For example, bonsai can be placed on a high shelf, and ordinary square or round pots can also be used. Rectangular or oval pots with medium depth are commonly used in curved stem type, inclined stem type, root lifting type and tree stone type.
Maintain in the shade shed. In late autumn and early winter, when the lowest temperature drops to 6-7℃ at night, it should be moved indoors to the sunny place for wintering, and the room temperature in winter should not be lower than 5℃. Brown bamboo likes warm, humid, ventilated and well-lit environment, such as sun exposure, drying in pots, etc., which often causes branches and leaves to wither and grow poorly, and in severe cases will die.
(2) water. Besides keeping the basin moist, you should always sprinkle water on the ground. When the weather is hot, water it in the morning and evening, and spray water on the leaves. After moving indoors in winter, there is less water, and watering in winter should be carried out at the highest temperature around noon.
(3) fertilization. In the growing season of brown bamboo, it is necessary to apply 1-2 decomposed dilute liquid fertilizer with nitrogen fertilizer as the main component every month, and apply "alum fertilizer water" several times at intervals. Only in this way can its branches and leaves be lush and green.
(4) plastic surgery. The shape of brown bamboo bonsai is relatively simple. First, cut off dead branches and diseased branches. If the branches and leaves are too dense, cut off some leaves and 1-2 branches to maintain the beautiful shape of bonsai.
(5) pest control. If brown bamboo is placed in a stuffy and unventilated place, it is easy to suffer from scale insect disease, so it should be prevented in time.
