How to shape and trim?
(1) vines leaning on the shelf

The vertical bamboo pole leads the main vine to grow vertically, and when it comes to the wire, the wound wire is long horizontally; The faster branches and vines enter the horizontal growth state, the earlier they blossom and bear fruit.

(2) Plastic surgery

(1) single vine shaping: cut off a main vine, grow with the prevailing wind direction after reaching the height of the wire, and then select a lateral vine to grow in the opposite direction; ② Double-vine shaping: leave two main vines for each plant, and lead them to grow in two directions after reaching the height of iron wire.

(3) Pruning

Prune the fruit after picking, and cut it to the second grade main vine or above the third grade main vine. Re-cutting in dormant or inactive growth period will lead to plant death. If you prune the trunk again, you must wait until the active growth period in early spring. Yellow fruit seeds should be pruned from 12 to February, and purple fruit seeds should be pruned from August to September. The secondary branches on the main vine should be drained during the main vine frame period to reduce nutrient consumption and facilitate the rapid growth of the main vine. When vines cover the surface of the frame, cut off the branches that are fruitless and drooping branches with few internal leaves, and shrink to about 15cm from the ground. It is feasible to prune the old diseased trees again, and all the secondary branches are cut short at 20cm near the main vine to stimulate the formation of new shoots.

There are also some that do not emphasize pruning, such as the United States, South Africa and Australia.

(4) artificial pollination

Most yellow fruits need artificial pollination, and purple fruits and hybrids can also improve fruit setting rate and yield. The method is to collect anthers with tweezers as early as possible when the flowers just bloom, and then apply pollen to the stigma with a brush.
