Finger tendon suture surgery

Finger tendon rupture does not necessarily require surgery.

The treatment of tendon rupture cannot be generalized. Most tendon ruptures require surgical treatment.

Surgery can restore joint function and restore infrastructure continuity, but there are also some tendon ruptures that can be treated with conservative treatment. If it is an open tendon rupture, with wounds, bleeding, or tendon rupture, then surgical treatment is definitely required.

Surgical treatment can include debridement, suturing tendons, and suturing wounds, and can be treated with corresponding external fixation braces or plasters after surgery. There are two types of tendon rupture. One is traumatic rupture, that is, the tendon is ruptured due to the direct effect of violence, such as cutting, tearing, etc.; the other is spontaneous rupture, such as the extensor pollicis longus tendon in the wrist. Fracture caused by repeated friction at the fracture site.

There are two ways to repair tendons. One is non-surgical treatment. For example, if the insertion point of the extensor tendon is ruptured, or if the Achilles tendon is ruptured, the loose tendon position can be fixed, such as using a plaster. Or a brace, fixed for an appropriate period of time to heal.

The other method is to incision and direct suturing to repair the ruptured tendon. The broken end is repaired and sutured. After 3-4 weeks, functional exercises are gradually carried out to restore the function of the tendon. Early functional exercise can well restore joint function, and at the same time, drugs for promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, reducing swelling and analgesics can be used to relieve pain. Finger tendon rupture surgery will cause some pain and discomfort, but anesthesia will be given during the surgery, and there will generally be no pain. It usually takes about two weeks after the surgery to basically heal. After the surgery, you can slowly strengthen exercise. It is recommended that the surgery must be performed in a regular tertiary hospital.
