What are the parts of the injection mold and what are their functions?

Injection mold mainly includes two parts: moving mold and fixed mold. The moving die is movable, it is installed on the moving die plate of the injection molding machine, and the fixed die is installed on the fixed die plate of the injection molding machine, so it is not moving. When the injection molding machine works, the movable mold will be close to the fixed mold, and they will be closed to form the cavity and gating system. When the mold is opened, the movable mold is separated from the fixed mold, and the ejection mechanism starts to act to eject the plastic part from the mold cavity, so that the injection molded product can be ejected smoothly. So as to complete a work cycle.

1) molding parts This is the part that constitutes the mold cavity, which is mainly used to determine the geometric shape and size of plastic parts. For example, the male die determines the internal shape of the plastic part, while the female die determines the external shape of the plastic part.

2) Gating system This is a channel for injecting the plastic melt into the closed mold cavity, which has an important influence on the flow characteristics of the melt during the mold filling process and the quality of injection molding.

3) The clamping guide mechanism is mainly used to ensure the connection between the moving die and the fixed die or other parts in the die.

Although there are many kinds of injection molds, the structural components of different molds are basically the same. Now take the multi-cavity single parting injection mold as an example to illustrate its structure, as shown in the figure.

3) The mold clamping guide mechanism is mainly used to ensure the accurate alignment between the moving mold and the fixed mold, or other parts in the mold, to ensure the accuracy of the shape and size of plastic parts, and to avoid the collision and interference of all parts in the mold.

4) Temperature control system Due to the different properties of plastics, the requirements for mold temperature during injection molding are also different. Therefore, a temperature control system is needed to adjust the temperature of the mold. The cooling of the mold generally depends on the cooling water in the cooling water channel opened in the mold, and the heating of the mold depends on the heating element in the mold.

5) The demoulding mechanism is used for discharging plastic parts. The demoulding mechanism in Figure 4- 1 consists of a push rod bottom plate 8, a push rod 1 1, a push-out bottom plate 9 and a pull rod 10.

6) Parting and core-pulling mechanism When a plastic part has a side recess or side hole, the flap mold or side core that forms the side recess or side hole must be pulled out of the plastic part before opening the mold to push out the plastic part, and the side parting or side core-pulling mechanism is a set of lateral motion mechanism set up to realize this function.

7) Supporting parts These parts are used to install, fix or support molded parts. Assembling the supporting parts together constitutes the basic frame of the injection mold.

8) Exhaust structure When the molten material is injected into the cavity of the injection mold at high speed, the air in the cavity needs to be exhausted, and the high-temperature plastic will also volatilize some gas, which needs to be exhausted in time to avoid molding defects. Various exhaust structures are designed on the injection mold to exhaust these gases.
