(1) During April-May, after the new branches germinate and before lignification, the excessive new branches sprouted on the old branches in the crown should be drained as soon as possible to facilitate ventilation and light transmission; Especially the sprouting branches of rough branch shears and saws, should be removed as soon as possible. Although the germination time is late, it grows vigorously. If it is not erased in time, it will easily become a long branch. Pruning in winter will consume nutrients unnecessarily. If it needs to be used to supplement space or update, it should be cleaned up as soon as possible to prevent unnecessary growth. When the growth of the tree is weak, shorten the fruiting mother branches in time to form dense upper fruiting branches. According to the density, a part can be properly thinned at flowering stage, which can prevent fruit dropping and improve fruit setting rate.
(2) Picking young trees with vigorous growth. From late April to mid-May, when the long branches or useless branches with suitable planting positions grow to 20 ~ 30 cm, check whether they are dead or have false buds. If false terminal buds are not formed, the core is picked at the top without lignification to promote secondary branching. These secondary branches can form flower buds in the same year and become fruiting mother branches in the next year.
(3) Short-cut varieties that are easy to form flower buds, such as September Green, Honey Persimmon and Fu You Persimmon. When flower buds have been formed on each node of the fruiting branch, and leaf buds can no longer be formed to continue vegetative growth, it is necessary to cut off too many fruiting mother branches from the base after the buds are found in the new branches, forcing secondary buds to germinate and increasing developing branches to adjust the tree length. Otherwise, all the fruiting branches are covered with flower buds, and leaf buds cannot be produced. After fruiting, they will become blind nodes, unable to take out the developing branches and unable to continue vegetative growth. At the same time, because most of the organic nutrients produced by leaves are consumed by fruits, little nutrients are accumulated in branches. After the fruit is harvested, the branches will die because of insufficient nutrition, or even the whole plant will die.
(4) girdling. Proper girdling of young trees can promote flower bud differentiation and early fruiting.
The girdling method of persimmon is different from other fruit trees. Instead of circling a circle, two semicircles crisscross or spiral (Figure 94). The width of girdling should be able to heal in the same year; The time of girdling is the flowering period of persimmon trees. Circumcision at flowering stage can improve the fruit setting rate, and the yield increase effect is also obvious.
