Northern Jiangsu includes 8 provincial cities and 40 counties (cities, districts) including Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Huai 'an, Yancheng, Suqian, Yangzhou, Taizhou and Nantong. The land area is 72,700 square kilometers, and the population at the end of 2009 is 47.7 million, accounting for 72 1% and 66.2% of Jiangsu Province respectively.
The area south of the Yangtze River in Anhui is collectively called southern Anhui. It covers an area of about 35,800 square kilometers and has a population of 8.5 million. It has a long history, splendid culture, beautiful scenery, outstanding people, rich products and scenic spots.
Northern Anhui includes Bengbu, Huainan, Fuyang, Bozhou, Hefei, Lu 'an, Chuzhou, Huaibei and Suzhou in Anhui Province.
Qinling-Huaihe Line is the dividing line between the north and the south of China.
