AIDS is a very harmful infectious disease, which is caused by HIV infection. HIV is a virus that can attack the human immune system. It takes CD4T lymphocytes, the most important cells in human immune system, as its main target, and destroys them in large quantities, making human body lose its immune function.
Therefore, the human body is prone to various diseases and malignant tumors, and the mortality rate is high. The average incubation period of HIV in human body is 8 ~ 9 years. In the incubation period of HIV, infected people can live and work for many years without any symptoms.
Studies show that AIDS originated in Africa and was brought to the United States by immigrants. On June 5th, 198 1, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published a case report of 5 AIDS patients in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly, which is the first official record of AIDS in the world. 1982, the disease was named AIDS.
Soon after, AIDS quickly spread to all continents. During the period of 1985, a foreigner who traveled to China fell ill and died in Peking Union Medical College Hospital shortly after being hospitalized, and was later confirmed to have died of AIDS. This is the first case of AIDS in China.
The danger of AIDS
Immune system damage: HIV attacks the human immune system, leading to the decline of human immunity, making the human body vulnerable to various bacteria and viruses.
Opportunistic infection: After AIDS leads to decreased immunity, patients are prone to various opportunistic infections, such as cryptococcal meningitis and pneumococcal pneumonia, which may be fatal.
Malignant tumor: HIV can further reduce the body's immunity and make patients more susceptible to malignant tumors, such as lymphoma and Kaposi's sarcoma.
Psychological and mental disorders: Due to the serious infectivity and social discrimination of AIDS, patients may face enormous psychological pressure and burden, leading to psychological and mental disorders such as anxiety and depression.
