If you want Yushu to grow rapidly, grow into a thick old pile of bonsai as soon as possible and reach the conditions of flowering, you should strengthen maintenance at ordinary times. After autumn, it is the vigorous growth period of Yushu. During this period, nutrition should be supplemented in time, light should be increased and branches and leaves should be trimmed.
1, the soil should be loose and breathable.
Yushu likes loose, fertile and well-drained sandy soil, because the soil with too much viscosity is easy to form water in the basin, which will affect the normal respiration of roots. So try to use some soil with good drainage and ventilation when planting in the upper basin. For example, humus soil, garden soil, river sand, cinder and other mixed culture soil can be used.
2. Maintain adequate nutrition during the growing period.
Spring and autumn are the vigorous growth periods of Yushu. At this stage, the branches and leaves of plants grow rapidly, and the trunk is also a period of thickening, so there must be enough nutrients to maintain the growth of plants. You can apply decomposed bean cake fertilizer or compound fertilizer to it once every half month, not too thick and thinner each time. If Yushu arrives at flowering stage, more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied at ordinary times. For example, you can apply some decomposed chicken manure and bone residue in the basin to promote the flowering of plants.
3. It is not advisable to water too often at ordinary times.
Yushu has strong drought resistance. Its stems and leaves are fleshy and can store a lot of water, even if it is watered later. During the vigorous growth period in spring and autumn, the basin soil can be kept slightly wet, and the summer is the dormant period of Yushu. At this time, the physiological activities of plants are weakened and the demand for water is reduced. If you water too much, it is easy to cause root rot. As long as the pot soil is not particularly dry in winter, there is no need to water it.
4. The requirements of plants for light
Yushu is a light-loving plant. Under the condition of sufficient light, its leaves are green and thick, and its stems grow rapidly. If you lack sunshine at ordinary times, you will grow thin and lack vitality. Therefore, in the growing season, it is necessary to ensure adequate illumination. In summer, when the light is too strong, you can shade it properly to avoid the strong light burning the leaves.
5, regular pruning and plastic surgery
Plants grow faster, so in order to make Yushu plants look good and make the trunk thicken quickly, more pruning is needed at ordinary times. Cut off or remove the overgrown branches, and trim the overgrown side branches to increase the air permeability and light transmittance between plants. During the growth period, many new branches will sprout from the lower part of the trunk, and these miscellaneous branches occupying nutrients should be removed in time, so that the whole plant can be dense and maintain a good ornamental effect.
Yushu grows very fast. As long as you keep enough nutrients, water and light, you can grow into a thick old pile in a few years, and then you can make a more beautiful bonsai to watch.
