1. Branching thinning: The selection, preservation and cultivation of the main branches of bonsai fruit trees mainly consider their levels and orientations, requiring clear up and down, with branches spreading in all directions. In order to ensure the normal growth of backbone branches and prevent dense disorderly branches from interfering with the formation of the target tree structure, irregular uniaxial branches, overlapping branches, combined branches, opposite branches, crossed branches, reverse branches, upright branches and bifurcated branches should be treated and transformed in time.
2. Pruning of branches: according to the specific situation, the most suitable pruning method is adopted to cultivate backbone branches, the method of overweight pruning at the base is adopted to cultivate compact short branches, and three sets of branch cultivation techniques are adopted to prune off excessive flower buds, and the branches are continuously updated and stabilized to a suitable size through retraction.
3. Bending branches: The method of bending branches is mainly to tie branches with metal wires, except that the angle of branches is adjusted by continuous cutting in the direction of buds. When winding, first fix one end of the metal wire at the bifurcation of the root of the curved branch, and then wind it close to the outer skin of the branch. For tree species with thin and brittle skin, before bending the branches, the branches can be wrapped with hemp skin or wrapped with paper on metal wires. Pay attention to the focus when fixing the end of the wire. When winding, it should form a 45 angle with the branches. When the branches need to bend downward to the right, they should be wound clockwise, and when they bend downward to the left, they should be wound counterclockwise. In order to prevent the branches from breaking, we should also pay attention to winding when bending. After winding, it is also necessary to check whether the wire is stuck in the bark as the branches grow thicker. Branches can be dismantled if they are fixed, and can be wound again if they are not fixed.
