One is stye, which is blepharitis. The second is chalazion, that is, meibomian gland cyst. Third, eyelid masses caused by other reasons, such as cavernous hemangioma, lipoma, powder tumor or eyelid tuberculosis.
Alarming is meibomian adenocarcinoma. It is a primary malignant tumor of meibomian gland, which is more common in women over 40 years old. The early manifestation was painless mass of meibomian gland, which did not adhere to the skin and was similar to chalazion. When the mass becomes larger, yellow nodules can be seen on the conjunctival surface or under the skin, and the touch surface is uneven. The decomposition of advanced cancer tissue causes systemic metastasis and threatens life.
There are long masses in eyelid, among which stye and chalazion are the most common, and meibomian adenocarcinoma has the worst prognosis. Therefore, when eyelid mass occurs, the cause should be clarified as soon as possible and treated in time, especially the elderly patients should be more alert to the possibility of meibomian adenocarcinoma.
