Yushu, also known as Swallow's Palm and Sedum, belongs to Sedum and Celastrus.

Originated in South Africa, it is cultivated all over the country. Evergreen shrub. The stem is cylindrical, gray-green and jointed. The leaves are opposite, flat, fleshy, oval, entire, slightly pointed at the top and rounded at the base. These flowers are red. Like warm and dry, sunny and well ventilated. I like loose sand. Avoid the soil from being too wet. Cutting is the main propagation method. Cuttings can be made of branches or leaves. Before cutting, cuttings should be dried in the shade. Cutting can be done in wet yellow sand or perlite in spring or autumn.

The cultivation and management of Swallow's Palm is simple and extensive, but there is indeed some work to be done to make the plants plump and strong and the flowers like mature trees. First of all, the swallows' claws grow very fast. Change pots every spring, add rich soil and keep them in sunny places for maintenance. Apply thin fat water every 10 day and a half, and water every 2 to 3 days, so that dry and wet will alternate. When the summer is hot, the swallows' palms are in a semi-dormant state, for fear that strong light will burn the leaves. At this time, it is necessary to do a good job of shading maintenance. Stop fertilizing in summer and pay attention to ventilation to prevent the leaves from turning yellow and falling off. If it rains heavily, avoid heavy rain and showers to avoid root death. From August to June, 5438+00, the autumn turned cold, and the phoenix tail palm began to grow again. It is necessary to strengthen the lighting again and remove the shading equipment. Fertilization and watering at this time are the same as in spring. Before the first frost enters the greenhouse, put it in a sunny place indoors and stop fertilizing and watering. Basically, water is poured once every half month, and the amount of water is half that of summer. Swallow palm is not cold-resistant in winter, and the temperature should be kept above 7℃. Prune once a year, change pots in spring or enter the greenhouse in late autumn to keep the plant shape elegant all year round.

Swallowtail swallowtail has less pests and diseases, and sometimes it will encounter anthracnose and leaf spot, so 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 1000 times can be sprayed. If the indoor ventilation is poor, the stems and leaves are vulnerable to scale insects. When pests are found, they should be cleaned manually immediately. When the damage is serious, it can be controlled with 40% omethoate emulsion 1000 times solution.

The leaves of Yushu contain Euphorbia Euphorbia. When people touch the juice from the leaves, it will cause redness, swelling and pain, and even blindness if it is splashed in the eyes.

Although Yushu looks unremarkable, it is a succulent plant with strong posture, drought resistance, easy cultivation, full foliage and green leaves all year round. Its swollen stems have the posture of ancient stumps, so nowadays, potted Yushu is more common on the balconies of urban and rural residential buildings in Jiangnan area.

Although Yushu is easy to breed, plant and manage, it is still common for some residents' balconies to "flutter in the wind" in spring, summer and autumn, but it will wither and even become a "shirtless chicken" after winter. This is mainly because flower growers only see the easy side of Yushu and ignore its fragile side. After entering the cold, they still put it on the outdoor balcony and let it be frozen by the wind, which caused Yushu to be frozen. After the freezing injury, the fleshy leaves and tender stems of Yushu began to appear the same trauma as scalded by boiling water, then gradually softened and withered, and finally fell off, leaving only bare main stems in severe cases.

Therefore, it is very important to do well the wintering work of potted Yushu on the balcony, and the following links should be grasped:

1. Move the basin into the room in time. After winter, Yushu will move to an indoor thermal insulation room that can maintain 7℃ to 10℃. When the weather is warm, Yushu can move to the balcony to bask in the sun at noon and move indoors at night.

2. Control the dry humidity of the basin soil. In winter, the basin soil is slightly dry, and the leaves are sprayed with fine fog to replenish water in time. Under normal circumstances, it is not necessary to water the basin soil directly.

3. Move into the greenhouse for heating. If conditions permit, the pot can be moved into the greenhouse; If conditions do not allow, it can also be covered with plastic film. But pay attention to the humidity in the range hood. When the water humidity is too high, the hood should be opened in time to prevent rotten leaves.

4. Don't throw away the plants easily if Yushu has suffered from freezing injury due to mistakes in previous anti-freezing measures. As long as the frozen leaves and shoots are removed, the intact main stem is kept, and proper fertilization is applied next spring, new branches and leaves can still sprout on the main stem, and after 1 to 2 years of cultivation, the perfect Yushu can be developed.
