Can deoxidizer be used to preserve plant specimens?
Deoxidants are generally not used to preserve plant specimens, while plant specimens are generally soaked and waxy leaf specimens.

Soak in formalin, ferrous sulfate or alcohol. Among them, formalin is the best. Prepare a sample bottle and add one of the liquids. Firstly, the fresh plants were dehydrated with 50% ethanol, 70% ethanol, 95% ethanol and anhydrous ethanol, and then immersed in antiseptic solution to ensure the freshness of the specimens. Finally, the frosted mouth of the specimen bottle is coated with yellow wax or vaseline to achieve the sealing effect. Finally, put a label on the specimen bottle.

Wax leaf specimens are generally not suitable for making specimens of flowers, fruits and succulents, because even if the specimens of such plants are made, they are easily destroyed and eaten by insects.

Prepare some yellow paper, or newspapers, mainly to absorb water.

In addition, thick white cardboard is needed to fix the specimen, preferably more than 200 grams.

First, sort out the collected plants and keep the most obvious features. Plants are covered with layers of yellow paper or newspaper on both sides, and heavy objects are pressed on them. This process takes about one week, during which paper needs to be changed to ensure the smooth drying process of plants.

The squeezed and dried plants are placed in a sealed container, and chloropicrin or formalin can be added for sterilization and insect repellent. This process takes a little longer, and a day or so can ensure that the prepared specimens can be preserved for a long time.

Finally, use cotton rope to fix the plants on the thick paper board and label them.
