Faye Wong, born in Beijing on August 8, 1969, is a Chinese pop singer, film and television actress, and a national first-class actor in China.
When Faye Wong was a child, she lived with her parents and brother in the coal mine compound of Qingchanggou in Beijing. In 1975, Faye Wong studied at Ditan Primary School in Beijing and served as the literary and art committee member of the class.
In 1980, Faye Wong studied at Dongzhimen Middle School in Beijing. While in middle school, she joined the CCTV Galaxy Children's Art Troupe. In 1983, she sang solo songs such as "The Sea, My Hometown" and "Song of Little Lark" at CCTV's June 1st Party. In 1984, she attended high school at Dongzhimen Middle School. When she was in her sophomore year of high school, she published works such as "Where Does the Wind Come From" and "Teresa Teng's Hometown Love" which were covers of Teresa Teng's songs.
In 1987, Faye Wong gave up her admission to the Department of Biology of Xiamen University and moved to Hong Kong with her father. In the same year, she was introduced by a friend to Dai Sicong as her teacher and studied vocal music under his guidance.
