According to the requirements of the hospital management committee, the Architectural Services Department designed a low-rise building complex with a landscape garden to facilitate patients' rehabilitation.
The first factor to be considered in the design is the setting standard of psychiatric wards, and medical facilities should be used in the same building as much as possible to create space for various rehabilitation activities.
Several factors were considered when deciding the case: in order to ensure the normal operation of the hospital, the expansion project needs to be carried out in stages; Keep the site in good condition in several stages of the expansion project; Try to use natural light and natural ventilation. Finally, a horseshoe-shaped staircase building complex is designed.
This design scheme has many advantages. First, horseshoe-shaped buildings cut down much less trees than square buildings. Secondly, the ladder shape is convenient for building a multi-storey roof garden, which meets the requirements of the hospital management Committee and each ward is connected with the garden. Third, the horseshoe shape makes the direction of the building clear and facilitates internal circulation. Fourthly, this design can make all wards use the same access and elevator facilities, which is helpful for medical services and will not affect visitors from the visitor entrance to the hospital to visit patients.
