Pruning time and method of jasmine in spring
Pruning of jasmine can be divided into three periods: spring pruning, post-flowering pruning and pre-winter pruning.

1, spring pruning

Spring pruning can be carried out in February in warm areas in the south, and it can be postponed to March in cold areas in central and northern China. At this time, the temperature gradually rises, and jasmine begins to grow again. We should change pots, soil, pruning and shaping in time to promote it to enter the peak season of the new season.

2. Prune after flowering

Jasmine with proper cultivation and management has four flowering periods every year, which can last from May to around 10. Jasmine flowers are all on the branches of new branches. The old branches that have blossomed not only affect the appreciation, but also consume nutrients and affect the flowering of new branches.

3. Prune before wintering

Before entering the room in winter, jasmine will consume a lot of nutrients if it has too many branches and leaves. At this time, because of its weak root system, its growth is extremely slow. If the dead branches and too many weak branches are not cut off, it is easy to survive the winter because of insufficient nutrient supply.

Keep 2/3 or 1/2 of the height of the whole plant type and cut off all the upper branches. At the same time, the branches and leaves that are too dense inside are thinned once, all the weak branches are cut off, and the thick main branches are cut off 1/3, which increases the ventilation and light transmission inside the plant and promotes the germination of more new branches.

Maintenance after pruning

In spring, with the gradual increase of temperature, the pruned jasmine will quickly enter the vigorous growth period. At this time, it is necessary to change pots and soil in time, supplement new nutrition and promote the growth of next season.

Jasmine roots don't pick up soil, and if planted in the ground, ordinary pastoral soil can flourish. Slightly acidic soil with loose texture and good air permeability. For example, humus soil, pastoral soil, coarse sand or perlite are arranged in a ratio of 5: 3: 2, and pottery basins or green mountain basins with good water permeability and air permeability are selected for planting.

If you want jasmine to recover quickly in spring, you should not only replace the new pot soil in time, but also have sufficient fertilizer supply. In order to promote the rapid germination of new branches and leaves, a small amount of quick-acting compound fertilizer can be sprinkled on the basin surface after pruning to fully supplement nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium elements, thus creating conditions for the comprehensive recovery of jasmine.
