What should I do if the branches of the fruit tree are too thick to pull?
For fruit trees with thick branches, it is generally not recommended to pull out branches, because the main branches and side branches are very mature at this time. If the branch is pulled out, it will only break the branch, which will affect its normal growth, and in serious cases, it will also affect the yield and quality. Therefore, young trees are generally selected when pulling branches, and old trees can be pruned appropriately, thus improving their fruit setting rate in the coming year.

The best time to pull branches is mainly when the branches of fruit trees are still semi-lignified. This time is from August to September in a year. At this time, the branches are in a semi-lignified state, and the branches are soft and plastic. After the branch is pulled, the branch angle is easy to stabilize, and the autumn shoots are no longer on the back, which can promote nutrient accumulation and flower bud differentiation.

Branch pulling method

When the new shoot grows to 20~25 cm, spread it horizontally between the new shoot and the central stem with a toothpick.

Branching should be carried out according to the steps of "one pushing, two kneading, three pressing and four positioning":

Push: Hold the branch with your hand and push it up, down, left and right repeatedly.

The second rubbing: repeatedly rubbing the branches.

Three presses: while kneading the branches, press the branches down to the required angle.

Four positioning: use a branch pulling rope (nylon grass, rope, branch puller, angle opener) to pull branches, level them out, and don't bow.
