Habitat conditions of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco: Pelteobagrus fulvidraco mostly inhabits shallow waters around lakes with slow-flowing grasses and rivers entering the lakes, and lives in benthos, especially in still water or slow-flowing shoals with more humus and silt. During the day, they lurk underwater or in crevices of rocks, move for food at night and gather in deep water in winter. Strong adaptability, can survive even in harsh environment, even without drinking water for 5-6 hours is not fatal.
Pelteobagrus fulvidraco can survive normally when dissolved oxygen is more than 2mg/L, floating head occurs when dissolved oxygen is less than 2mg/L, and suffocation occurs at1mg/L. Pelteobagrus fulvidraco is suitable for alkaline waters, with the optimum range of 7.0-8.5 and the tolerance range of 6.0-9.0. Pelteobagrus fulvidraco has poor tolerance to salinity. After hybridization, it can adapt to 2‰-3‰ sodium chloride, and if it is higher than 3‰, it will die.
