When the long side of the steel plate meets the long side, it is called edge joint. When the long side meets the long side, it is called edge joint, the weld is called seam, and when the short side meets the short side, it is called termination, and the weld is called butt joint. The hull outer plate is welded by many steel plates. The long sides of the steel plates are arranged in the direction of the captain. The seams on the short side of the steel plate are called end seams, and the seams on the long side are called edge seams. A continuous strip plate formed by the ends of the plates one after another is called a row plate, and a row of plates connected with the upper deck is called a bulwark row plate. A row of plates at the stern (the circular part from the bottom of the ship to the side) is called the stern plate, and the rest are collectively called the side plate.
