Kunming Medical College is the largest medical education center integrating teaching, medical treatment and scientific research in Yunnan Province. Its predecessor was the Medical Department of Lidong Road University in Yunnan Province, which was established in September 1933, and the Medical College of Yunnan University, which was established in June 1937, and was independently established in 1956. Over the past 77 years, 70,000 trained senior medical talents have taken root in the frontier and served the grassroots, making outstanding contributions to Yunnan's medical and health undertakings, economic and social development, promoting national unity and maintaining border stability.

Approved by the People's Government of Yunnan Province and the Ministry of Education, Yunnan Medical College was formally established in May 2003. Yunnan Medical College, formerly known as Yunnan Health School, was founded in 1936. At present, the school is located in Kunming, where the seasons are like spring, covering an area of 633 mu. The provincial rural doctor correspondence general school, the provincial telemedicine center and the provincial general practitioner transformation training center are also built in this school.
