Doctors don’t have weekends off and have to work night shifts

Night shift clinical departments basically have night shifts. This is unavoidable. Generally, doctors in the department take turns to work. Clinical departments have to work almost every day. On Saturdays and Sundays, they are not on duty in the morning. Ward rounds.

Some surgeries even work 72-hour shifts. Because there are emergency surgeries at night, you may be called to cover the shift at home. Some departments may not have enough staff and you may need to work 24-hour or 48-hour shifts.

It is difficult for you to take a few days off for personal matters, because all your patients are in your hands, and you must find someone willing to take over for you. Your annual leave is more difficult, and you need to discuss it with your department colleagues and leaders well in advance.
