Ming and Qing jewellery cultural relics
This should be analyzed from several aspects. The first is that it is too difficult to salvage those jewels, the second is because it is unnecessary, and the last may be out of respect for the deceased. But I personally think the first two are the most important. As an imperial dynasty in Ming and Qing dynasties, the Forbidden City contains countless treasures. After the demise of the Qing dynasty, in order to prevent treasures from falling into the hands of foreigners, many people took some treasures at that time and threw them into wells if they could not take them. It stands to reason that many people will scramble to make money, but this is not the case. There are three main reasons.

First, it's too difficult.

You know, you have to dig a well at the waterline to drain water. The so-called waterline is an underground river, so in fact all the wells in the Forbidden City are connected. So some babies are easily washed away by water, and they may not know where they have been taken by groundwater for a long time, so it is very difficult to take them out.

Second, it is unnecessary.

The wells and wellhead of the Forbidden City are very small. If you want to go down and take out the treasures in the thick mud, it is bound to destroy the ground and wellhead, which is equivalent to destroying cultural relics. Compared with the gold and silver jewelry soaked in the well for so long, the cultural relics in the Forbidden City are obviously more valuable, and it is not advisable to throw watermelons for sesame seeds. Another is that the gold, silver and jewels stored in the Forbidden City are already valuable. Instead of wasting manpower and material resources to dig the treasure in the well, it is better to keep the existing treasure.

Third, respect the dead.

There are not only gold, silver and jewels in the well of the Forbidden City, but also the bones of many people, such as the concubine of Emperor Guangxu, who was thrown into the well by Cixi. Therefore, not digging wells is also a kind of respect for them.

But obviously, the first two are the most important reasons.
