Chemical properties of silver
Silver is dissolved in nitric acid to produce silver nitrate.
Silver is not easy to react with sulfuric acid, so sulfuric acid can be used to clean the copper oxide fire marks left by silver welding annealing in jewelry manufacturing.
Dilute sulfuric acid characteristics
1, which can react with most metals (more active than copper) and most metal oxides to generate corresponding sulfate and water;
2. It can react with salts whose acidity is weaker than sulfate ion to generate corresponding sulfate and weak acid;
3. It can react with alkali to generate corresponding sulfate and water;
4. It can react with pre-hydrogen metal to generate corresponding sulfate and hydrogen under certain conditions;
5. It can catalyze the hydrolysis of protein, disaccharide and polysaccharide under heating conditions;
6. It can react with indicator to make purple litmus test solution turn red, and colorless phenolphthalein test solution does not change color.

Properties of concentrated sulfuric acid
Because concentrated sulfuric acid contains a large number of non-ionized sulfuric acid molecules (acid molecules in strong acid solutions are not necessarily ionized into ions, and the strength of acid is relative), concentrated sulfuric acid has special properties such as water absorption, dehydration (commonly known as carbonization, that is, corrosiveness) and strong oxidation. In dilute sulfuric acid, sulfuric acid molecules have been completely ionized, so it does not have the special chemical properties of concentrated sulfuric acid.
Principle of silver needle poison test
In ancient times, arsenic was often used as poison, but due to technical limitations, arsenic would be mixed with a lot of sulfur or sulfide. Silver will react with sulfur to produce black silver sulfide precipitate to test the poison. It can be seen that the silver needle test only detects sulfur in arsenic, and it is powerless for countless poisons today.
