Liaoning Vocational College of Mechanical and Electrical Technology is located in Dandong, the most beautiful border city in China, across the Yalu River from Sinuiju, North Korea. The college was formerly a national key technical secondary school-Liaoning Instrumentation Industry School, which was founded in 1965. Approved by the provincial government in 2002, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college, which belongs to the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education. Now it is the national key vocational teacher training base, the national numerical control technology shortage talent training base, the national machinery industry backbone vocational colleges, and the first batch of demonstration vocational colleges in Liaoning Province.

The college covers an area of 566 mu, with a total construction area of153,800 square meters. There are two campuses, namely Langtou Campus and Instrument Garden. Langtou Campus is located in North Ring Road of Dandong Lingang Industrial Park, and Instrument Park Campus is located in Liaoning Instrument Industry Base of Dandong New Town.

Taking serving the regional economic development as its own responsibility, innovating the school-running system and mechanism as a breakthrough, and reforming the talent training mode as the fundamental point, the college has embarked on a characteristic development road of "the joint development of schools and enterprises in the district and the combination of schools in Industry-University-Research" in practice. The College cooperated with Liaoning Shuguang Automobile Group to establish the Huanghai Automobile Engineering College, and cooperated with Dandong Admiralty Investment Industry Co., Ltd. to establish the Northern Gold and Jewelry College with the management mode of the Council. Liaoning Instrument Vocational Education Group, led by the College, was established by the Provincial Department of Education as the first demonstration vocational education group in Liaoning Province.
