The history of the Bund 18

The Bund 18, built in 1923, is a municipal-level classic protected building with a history of 84 years. It is located in Nanjing East Road on the Bund, formerly known as Bund 18 of Macquarie Bank. It used to be the headquarters of Standard Chartered Bank in China, which was built in 1923. Since the relocation of Standard Chartered Bank in 1955, it has been used by many companies.

The four ancient Greek marble columns at the entrance of the restored Bund 18 building are original and mysteriously come from the Italian church 200 years ago. Two special three-meter-high red glass chandeliers are all assembled from hollow glass tubes, and each lamp is assembled from 185 parts. The dazzling 24-carat Massek murals in the hall are all hand-made. It has been built into an internationally renowned center of fashion, jewelry, watches, food, entertainment and art.
