In the Ming dynasty, there was also a vassal king who was very loved by the emperor's brother. Even the tombs he built were higher in specifications than those of the emperor, which was very embarrassing in ancient times. But the emperor's brother didn't care, and the princes didn't worry about being beheaded at all, and they lived happily. The brothers who love each other are Ming Shenzong Wanli Emperor Zhu Yijun and his fourth brother, Lu Wang Zhu Yichang. Zhu Yichang was the fourth son of Zhu Zaikun, Emperor of Qin Long in the Ming Dynasty. Qin Long's father was Emperor Jiajing, and he was almost strangled in bed by a maid-in-waiting. Li, Zhu Yichang's biological mother, entered when she was still alive and became a maid. In the forty-second year of Jiajing, after Li was born (later Emperor Wanli), she was promoted to be a side princess. When he ascended the throne and became emperor, Li's status rose, becoming the imperial concubine second only to the queen. Zhu Yisong was born in 1568, the second year of Qin Long. He is Li's youngest son and Wanli's mother and brother. Zhu Yisong was later named King Lu. When Zhu Yijun was born, among Long Qingsheng's four sons, Prince Zhu Yi, the eldest son, and Zhu Yijun, the second son, died young, and only Zhu Yijun, the third son, and Zhu Yijun, the fourth son, survived. Therefore, Zhu Yichang was spoiled by the queen since childhood.
Zhu Yijun, the emperor of Wanli, became emperor at the age of ten. According to historical records, Li Taihou (whose son Wanli was crowned as a kind queen after he succeeded to the throne) was very strict with Wanli. It is common to punish eunuchs for studying and order eunuchs to strictly control Xiao Wanli. Even once Wanli drank too much wine, and for some reason he wanted to kill the chamberlain with a sword. When Li Taihou learned this, he threatened Emperor Wanli to abolish his throne, and was severely punished and knelt down. However, Li Taihou unexpectedly liked his youngest son, Zhu Yizhang, and Emperor Wanli doted on his only brother. On the occasion of Zhu Yijun's 14-year-old wedding, the wedding was extravagant and the specifications far exceeded the cost of the prince's wedding, so that the Ministry of Housing wrote to remind Emperor Wanli that enough is enough. But Emperor Wanli was still extravagant at his brother's wedding. Due to the staggering cost of the wedding, Wanli even misappropriated more than 900,000 yuan of military expenses, and even the jewels in Beijing were bought by the royal family.
In order to raise money for the wedding, I even had the idea of Zhang. Thought Zhang was rich, so he bought his property to make up for his marriage. Who knows that only tens of thousands of silver can be used to buy property, which is simply a drop in the bucket for Zhu Yichang's wedding expenses. In the twelfth year of Wanli, that is, the third year after Zhu Yi got married, according to the practice of getting married and going out to be a vassal in the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yi, the king of Lu, should leave Beijing to be a vassal. Emperor Wanli loved his younger brother very much, and personally chose the rich Huguang Hengzhou as his younger brother's vassal. However, Zhu Yi Zhong wrote that he was closer to his emperor's brother and asked to change it to Fan Weihui, which is now Xinxiang and Hebi in Henan. Wanli naturally responded to his brother's request. After selecting the vassal land, Emperor Wanli began to build a large-scale building and built a Lu Wang Fu for Zhu Yi Zhang. The Shandong project is huge, costing nearly 700,000 taels of silver, and the stones are collected from Huguang and Sichuan. The whole project took four years, which made the local governor Zang complain bitterly and demanded that Dai Guangqi, a Taoist priest from Hebei Province, be transferred to Weihui.
After the completion of Lu, Zhu Yi visited nine times. According to the law, the Ministry of Housing paid Zhu Yichang 302,000 gold for settling in. But at this time, the imperial treasury was very empty, and disasters occurred in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. The court has reached the point where it can't make ends meet, so it is difficult to organize the money. The victims wailed everywhere, but the royal family spent money like water. When it was inconvenient for the courtiers to impeach the Emperor Wanli directly, they fired on the fact that Song Xun, the minister of the Ministry of Housing, was powerless and simply submitted his resignation to the Emperor. Emperor Wanli was very helpless. In order to appease the courtiers and silence everyone, he had to cut Zhu Yichang's family allowance by one-third. In the seventeenth year of Wanli, Zhu Yijun, king of Lu, set off for San Francisco. Welcome ceremonies were held everywhere along the way, and the local government was asked to provide food and rice, and tens of thousands of stones were thrown at every corner. These grains and rice were exploited by the local government, which was another disaster for the local people.
After yi zhu became a fan of Wei Hui, he was even more crazy about collecting money. Jing Zhu, Zhu Yichang's uncle, was banished from the country after he died because he had no children behind the king. More than 40,000 mu of land sealed in his name is fictitious. After King Jing died, many fields under his name were returned to the people. However, after Zhu Yichang inherited King Zaizhen's field, he immediately wrote to ask for King Jingwang's field according to the real number. At this time, the name of King Jing no longer exists. However, Emperor Wanli ignored the letters from governments at all levels and still forced all localities to make up all the money. The local government had no choice but to find an excuse and forcibly search for land from the people to make up for the position of King Lu. It is understandable that Emperor Wanli indulged King Lu in collecting money. King Lu even offended Huang Wei when he exceeded the standard to build the tomb of King Lu. Emperor Wanli was obedient to his younger brother and ignored him. He really dotes on this brother. The Luwangling Mausoleum is very grand, with the same layout as the Ming Emperor's Mausoleum, but larger than the Dingling Mausoleum of the Wanli Emperor. The memorial archways of the Luwangling Mausoleum are painted with dragon patterns for the emperor's use.
There are generally six kinds of stone beasts in front of Ming Taizu Mausoleum. However, there are fourteen kinds of stone beasts beside the Shinto of Zhu Yichang's tomb in Lu Wang, and the doornails of the underground palace are decorated with the highest specifications of nine vertical and nine horizontal. Even the second princess's tomb of King Lu is very imposing, imitating the queen's specifications. Li Taihou doted on King Lu in every way, turned a blind eye to these outrageous practices of King Lu, and acquiesced in connivance. In February of forty-two years of Wanli, Li Taihou died of illness. According to legend, King Lu was heartbroken when he learned that his mother had died and could not go back to Beijing to attend the funeral. He died in July of the same year and lived for 46 years. The connivance of Li Taihou and Emperor Wanli created Wang Lu's bohemian personality. Perhaps, Emperor Wanli knew his younger brother too well, and thought that he was just an arrogant and extravagant master, and did not threaten the imperial power. So whatever Lu Wang does, let him go.
