National Highway 228 is a high-grade coastal highway in China, with a total length of 7,800 kilometers, which skillfully connects the coastlines of Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Guangxi. Going west along the eastern coastline and passing through 44 coastal cities, this is the famous coastal highway in China. This national highway connects ten coastal free trade zones, four special economic zones and countless cities in China. What is a national highway?
National highway refers to the main trunk highways with national political and economic significance, including important international highways and national defense highways, highways connecting the capital with the capitals of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, and highways connecting major economic centers, port hubs, commodity production bases and strategic locations. Inter-provincial highways in national highways are built, maintained and managed by specialized agencies approved by the Ministry of Communications.
Construction significance
This project is a part of the "first ring" (coastal line) of Putian trunk highway network planning, and it is an important channel connecting Gaobei Chengtou Jewelry City with Houhai and Gaobei Daitou. After the completion of the project, the traffic conditions in the region will be improved, the traffic flow of National Highway 324 passing through Hanjiang City will be alleviated, and the traffic pressure from Zhongmen to Huangshi Road of Provincial Highway 202 will be alleviated. At the same time, the land use and development along the route will be promoted, and the investment environment in the surrounding areas will be improved.
