(2) For example, if people know that they will move to other places soon, they will definitely make plans to move out.
Similarly, if we realize that this life is over and we want to go to the afterlife, we will make plans for the afterlife and create conditions for the interests of the afterlife, and the road to long-term happiness will begin from this life.
(3) For example, when the enemy who killed himself approached him step by step, how could they have the mind to eat, drink and be merry? Similarly, knowing that death is approaching, you will not be arrogant and dissolute, but be a qualified practitioner with an open mind.
Second, I don't want the disadvantages of impermanence in life.
There are three metaphors:
(1) For example, although you have landed in Bao Dao, if you don't expect to leave soon, you won't collect jewelry, so you will leave empty-handed.
In the same way, although we have achieved extraordinary success, if we don't realize the impermanence of life, we will soon leave this world and go to another place, and we won't think of practicing law and doing good. If you don't practice the law and do good, you will die empty-handed.
(2) For example, if you live in a place and regard your home as your permanent residence, you will love it and loathe it.
Similarly, if we look at this life very solidly and for a long time, we will have corresponding love and fall into meaningless circles.
(1) For example, cows and sheep are carefree when they walk to the slaughterhouse, because they don't know that death is just around the corner.
Although people are approaching death step by step, if they don't feel that death is imminent and indulge in useless things, they will beat their chests and feet with regret when they die.
In short, whether you can enter the road of permanent happiness depends on whether you can practice as a dharma. The key to practicing is whether you can realize the impermanence of life.
Nothing is more important than realizing the impermanence of life in the continuation of Buddhist scriptures, so it is very important to know this.
Text: Immortality is impermanent. It refers to the practice of three fundamentals, nine factors and three decisions.
Three basic elements: namely
Nine reasons to meet each other:
● Deciding death: established by three factors. That is, (1) thought that the Lord's decision to die came, but this reply failed to bring it back; There is nothing to increase or decrease the longevity of thinking; (3) Thinking that I have no leisure to practice magic methods all my life, I decided to die.
● Death is uncertain: it is established by three factors. (1) Thinking about the life uncertainty of the southern island; (2) Too many dead ends and too few living ends; (3) The mind and body are weak, so death is uncertain.
● It is useless to divide the rest after death: it is established by three factors. It's no use splitting it up after death. (2) If you are dead, it is useless for relatives and friends to share. (3) When you die, it is not good for your health.
Every root is established by three factors, nine * * *. When each of these three basics is considered as the correct quantity, I will make a decision in my heart-I must practice Buddhism. The focus of Buddhist practice is thinking, and the result of thinking is to make decisions from the heart.
● First, thinking decides death.
There are three reasons for the decision to prove death:
First, Lord Death decided to come, but this reply failed to come back.
Second, there is nothing to increase or decrease in life;
Third, when I was born, I had no leisure to practice magic and decided to die;
Finally, I decided that I must practice Buddhism. (This is the first decision)

That is, death is inevitable, and there is no way to change this law. There are four reasons to prove it:
1, whatever you accept, you will die;
No matter where you live, you will die;
3, wherever you are, you will die;
4, there is no chance to cover up death.
1. No matter what you think, you will die;
People will die, as the Great Nirvana Sutra says: Everything in the world, the living, dies, although life is infinite, it is necessary.
No matter what kind of body is born, there is death in the decision. "impermanence collection" says: if you want to get the Buddha's name, purity and buddhas, you must give up this body, not to mention how can you avoid death without free mortals?
"Ode to Dharma Collection" says: Buddhas and Bodhisattvas give up their lives because of their senses and sounds, not to mention all sentient beings.
Although Brahma, Earth Stone and All-Sky Milk in the sky are miraculous, strong and bright, and have a long life span, all the flesh in the sky will be destroyed, all the flesh in the color world will be destroyed when the karma is exhausted, and all the flesh in the sky will show five phases of decline. However, none of the wheel kings or wheel emperors from generation to generation can live forever. Although there are differences in body shape, strength and life span around us, equality is lost in the sense of karma, and it can't surpass malignancy, and eventually it is disillusioned like a bubble.
All buddhas, bodhisattvas and arhats are nirvana. In this world, sages were born to rob seven buddha. Every Buddha has incredible disciples, but none of them are left behind. In the Buddhist teaching method, 500 arhats are all nirvana, and then the two saints and six saints in India have all left this world, and now there are only their papers left in the world. Since then, Buddhism has spread to the Han nationality and Tibet. In the past 1000 years, there have been countless achievers before and after, for example, 25 great achievers in the pre-flood period in Tibet, Milarepa and Zong Kaba in the post-flood period, and six ancestors and wise masters in the Han Dynasty. These eminent monks and great virtues only remain in the history books and live in the memory of future generations.
Therefore, all the Buddhas who have achieved the life-and-death Vajrayana in history must show silence and abandon the flesh, not to mention that no matter how noble and extraordinary the flesh is, we mortals will inevitably die. The book of Xieyou says: The Great Immortal Five Connections can play a role in the void, but they can't aim at the place where there is no death.
When the ancient Anarufo showed nirvana, he left a eulogy: If there is a dharma cloud, the wise should not believe it. King Kong is impermanent, and will destroy the Lord Mountain King. Everything is impregnable, and the wise should not be credulous. Once the impermanent King Kong arrives, even the Buddha's body and the impregnable Mount Sumi will be destroyed.
Agama records: One day, Ananda came to the Buddha and bowed to the Buddha's lotus feet with his head, saying, Buddha, how did your body become so loose?
The Buddha said: Ananda, as you can see, the Tathagata's body is not as loose as before. This color is forced by illness and death. Tathagata is old and over 80 years old.
A smelly Buddha said that he cried sadly and said to himself, what a pain! In old age, it turned out to be like this.
At this time, the Buddha taught: monks, there is no one to rely on in the world. You should abandon the world and seek immortality, neither sickness nor death, nor love or leave other nirvana. You should always remember the principle of impermanence and change.
There is also a poem "Ode to the Cloud": After seven days in the sea, the earth burned to ashes, and the dust was hard to stay after it was extinguished, let alone extremely weak human beings. Those huge and solid mountains and rivers will also be reduced to ashes. How can a life as fragile as a bubble overcome death? Therefore, we can't cling to the eternal residence.
No matter where you live, you will die;
"impermanence set" cloud: where can I live to prevent death from entering? If the place decides that there is nothing, there is nothing in the air, there is nothing in the ocean, and there will be no mountains and forests.
The metaphor of French sentences is like this: it is neither empty nor in the sea, nor between rocks, and there is nowhere to escape from death. In other words, there is no place to escape death anywhere in the world, and death is everywhere.
"On Grammatical Sentences" records that in the past, the Buddha spoke in the bamboo garden of Wang Shecheng. At that time, four Brahma brothers each got five kinds of magical powers. Through the observation of magical power, we know that they will all die after seven days.
So everyone discussed ways to escape death.
They said: relying on the power of the five magical powers, the world can be turned upside down, the sun and the moon are dull, and mountains can be moved. How can you escape death?
A man said: I dive into the sea, but I can't get out of the sea, I can't get down to the bottom of the sea, and I have been floating in the middle. How can a ghost know where I am?
One person said: When I entered Xumi Mountain, I closed the surface of the mountain so that there was no gap. How could the ghost know where I was?
One man said, I am hiding in the void. How does a ghost know where I am?
One person said: I should hide in the noisy market, and ghosts can just find people. Why do you have to find me?
After four people discussed it, they hid it according to their own ideas. As a result, seven days later, those who hid in the air naturally fell to the ground and died, just like falling from a tree when they were ripe; Those who hide in the mountains are lost in the mountains; Those who hide in the sea die immediately and are eaten by fish and turtles; Those who hide in the market will die naturally in the crowd.
Knowing this, the Buddha said to the monks, "These four people are ignorant and don't know the truth of life. Who has escaped death through the ages? " . People want to die, but they can't get it.
When Emperor Liuli slaughtered Sakyamuni, the Buddha hid several of Sakyamuni's children to show the world that what goes around comes around is incredible. Two of them were put on the moon, two were hidden in the sea, and the other two were brought into the bowl. After the massacre, several children died, none of them survived. Therefore, the time has come. No matter where you live or where you flee, death will decide arrival, and even the Buddha can't change karma.
There are three things in the world, from endless hell to heaven, where the dead can't reach.
Whether in Asia or Europe, whether in China or the United States, whether in cities or villages, whether at home or on the road, death is everywhere, and the shadow of the dead hangs over the world. No matter in the air or at sea, no matter in rivers or grasslands, no matter in cliffs or beaches, no matter in farmland or factories ... death is everywhere, and the forces of the dead have penetrated into every place in the three realms, and there is nowhere to escape.
Even if we hide in a seamless and sturdy castle and try to guard it with hundreds of soldiers, the claws of the Necromancer Lord will reach into the castle and take us away. After all, we can't live in the stop for a minute. So, no matter where you live, the decision to die will come.
3. Every time you think about it, you will die;
"Rest in Peace" says: Think about generations in the world,
In impermanence, it is said that those born in the past and even those born in the future must leave this body. Wise men realize that everything has been destroyed. When they are in the law, they must follow it. All sentient beings born in the past, present and future will abandon this body and move towards the future. A wise man knows that all dharma circles are destroyed, so he should live in dharma circles and decide to practice Sanskrit.
The ancient humans who once lived on the earth no longer exist, so it can be decided that they all bid farewell to the world by death. Looking back on the past and the present, we can draw the conclusion that human beings will be wiped out in one hundred years, and so will the future world.
4. Thinking can't stop death;
Even if your treasure is full of three realms, the dead Lord Yan Luowang will not be bought at all; Even Brahma and Emperor Shi can subdue the Three Realms with strength, and they can't stop the road to death. Even if your body is as beautiful as a colorful cloud, and you can be exposed to all kinds of attractive illusions, you will not be moved by the hair that killed Wang Zhongwei's army in Yamaraja. Therefore, when death comes, there is no way to hide it.
You can use power, money, drugs, spells, etc. Cover up death? Decided not to. If you can't see any way to cover it up, you must accept the fact that you will die. Gamoba said: even if you are afraid of death, you should be fearless when you die; For example, in the Sutra of Throwing Stones, it is said that the unparalleled wisdom and magical power of the Buddhas are not as powerful as impermanence, and there is nothing they can do about impermanence's death and the combined efforts of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
So, how to save people who have exhausted their lives and change the law of death by medical treatment, taking medicine, chanting Buddha and chanting Buddha?
Conclusion: No matter when, where and in what way, death will come and cannot be stopped. If it is established, it is decided to die.
If you are in a body at a certain time, you may not die, or you may avoid death. Although it is convenient to cover it back, you can't avoid death and cover it back no matter when and where you are in any body, so you decide to die.
According to the truth, the above content is like this: the mortal who was drawn by karma (has the law) decided to come, and there is no way to cover up (establish), so it is not convenient to cover up the cause of death (establish) anywhere, anywhere and in any year.
Second, ideological life has not increased, but has been decreasing;
According to the theory of entering the industry, if I don't stay day and night, my life will decline, and if there is no extra increase, my life will die. I will never stop between day and night, and my life will always decline, and nothing will increase. If my life is decreasing, won't it die?
The life span of troubled times is extremely short, some of them have been lost, and there is not much left. Besides, every minute is decreasing, and every minute will not increase. We are close to death all the time. How can I not die? Life is only a few decades. If you live one more day, you will live one less day. There is no extra life to add. From this, you can conclude that you must die.
Metaphor: for example, weaving, although only one thread is removed at a time, can be completed quickly; Just like an animal that decides to be slaughtered, as it moves forward step by step, the disease will quickly reach the killer, and everyone's life expectancy is the same.
Like water in a waterfall, the dead never come back. If life goes, it will never return.
Third, everything in the world is impermanent, such as sunset glow, waterfall lightning, falling into the water and so on. This is called vivid teaching to show impermanence.
Not only at the end of a person's life, he is destroyed by death and interested in future generations, but also in the middle of his life, no matter what he does, he will not lose his life. Since I was born for the first time, I have been unable to settle down for a moment, only to rush to the future. Therefore, when the middle survives, it is completely dragged by the messengers of aging diseases, and only led forward, waiting for death. Therefore, when we are alive, we should not think that we are not interested in future generations, but live happily. For example, if you fall from a high cliff and fall before you reach the ground, you should not be happy. If you start from birth, you will always run to death. Can all beings get real happiness during this period? As a song goes:; The days have passed and my life has been reduced. What's the fun without water fish? Man is like a fish without water. As time goes by, his life is getting shorter and shorter, so he is close to death.
Summary: karma is a supplement to traction (regular), which determines death (based on limited life, neither increasing nor decreasing (can be established).
Third, when thinking about life, I have no leisure to practice magic and decide to die;
The time to practice the law, MINUS the years of youth and ignorance in front and weakness in the back; Subtract half the time occupied by sleep in the middle period; In the remaining time, MINUS the scattered and restless practice time, then the remaining practice time is just a little bit.
"Fetal Sutra" says: Half of centenarians are blindfolded, ignorant for ten years (no intention to practice the law) and aging for twenty years (no intention to practice the law). In the meantime, they spent a lot of time lamenting the bitterness and annoyance, enduring various physical diseases and consuming some time.
Gakaba also said: As a person for 60 years, except for eating, sleeping and getting sick, the rest can practice Buddhism for less than five years.
Young people and old people can calculate their own practice time. For example, a 30-year-old young man who has not practiced law before the age of 30 can't count after the age of 60. If they are guaranteed to practice the law for three hours a day for 30 years, the practice time will be one eighth, only three years and September. In the city, busy people, if they promise to practice for an hour every day, will only spend a quarter of their time practicing dharma, only one year in March. If a 60-year-old man lives for ten years at most and practices for two hours every day, the time for practicing dharma is one twelfth, only ten months. If we slack off and practice for an hour every day, there will be only five months left to practice the law.
After a little calculation, you will know that there is very little time to practice the law in this life, and there is almost no time to practice the law. All decisions are quick and interesting. Therefore, don't think that there are still decades to practice the law. Especially the elderly, from the moment they get up, they should recite Buddha wholeheartedly and live in bliss. If you can only practice for a few months, but you are still distracted by other things and die unprepared, you will regret it. Therefore, in such a short time, we must pay close attention to spiritual practice and absorb the essence of people. Everyone in the Han dynasty must read: zhong! Be diligent, such as saving your head, but be careful not to let go. That's what I'm saying. As the saying goes: Ruthless death, get everything ready before the food comes, and don't regret it afterwards.
Based on the above three reasons, the first fundamental thing-after the decision to die, the first decision to initiate-must practice Buddhism.
Think of it this way: everything in this world is perfect, and the only place worth remembering at the end of life is like recalling the happiness in your dream after waking up. If the decision to blame the enemy for death is coming and can't be stopped, why do you still love the deception now? If you think so, you must make more wishes in your mind and practice Buddhism when making decisions.
The second is fundamental, and death is uncertain.
There are three reasons for this:
① There is no definite reason for the longevity of the southern island, and the death is uncertain;
(2) There are too many dead edges and too few living edges, so death is uncertain;
(3) The body is very weak, so death is uncertain.
Finally, I decided that I must practice Buddhism. (This second decision)
(1) The life span of all beings in the South Station is uncertain, especially in the Turbid Age.
In short, the life span of Luzhou, the northern capital, is determined to be 1000 years; The life span of Xizhou and Dongzhou is mostly fixed, 500 years in Xizhou and 250 years in Dongzhou, but the life span of Nanshanbu is extremely uncertain, as stated in On Everything: This place is uncertain.
Especially in turbulent times, the life span is even more uncertain, and the hardships of those with unfavorable life span are increasing day by day, and the role of magic drugs in driving away diseases and prolonging life span is gradually decreasing and disappearing. People die when they are old, and youth and middle age are uncertain. "karma" cloud: Some died in the womb, some fell to the ground, some crawled away, some died in running, some were old and young, and some mature people died one after another.
"Sentence Collection" says: Many people I met the day before died the next day; Among many people you see the next day, there are also some people you can't see the next day.
The key here must be combined with the thoughts of real life, so as to touch the heart. The real cases heard and witnessed aroused strong feelings.
(2) There are many causes of death, many causes of death and few causes of death.
There are many causes of death and death:
According to classic records, there are 404 kinds of internal injuries that damage life, and 8,000 kinds of traumatic diseases affected by pathogenic factors.
Death fate includes intentional death fate and unintentional death fate. Intentional death comes from sentient death, including Wang Nan, war, enmity, chanting and killing. , from human death, dragon and ghost damage, mountain spirit monster intrusion, etc. Death from non-humans, poisonous snakes, beasts, cattle and horses trampling, etc. , from the second death. Unintentional deaths include internal causes and external causes, that is, diseases caused by internal causes and disasters caused by external causes, such as earthquakes, floods, fires and hurricanes.
Observe the death caused by human war:
As far as the war history of the last century is concerned, with the rapid development of science and technology in the last century, human wars have become more and more cruel. In just twenty years, two world wars broke out. 19 14 to 19 18, the first world war broke out, which lasted four years and three months. Thirty-eight countries were directly or indirectly involved in the war. More than 73.4 million soldiers participated in the war, about10 million people died in the war, about 20 million people were injured, and the number of people affected by the war exceeded1300 million, accounting for about 75% of the world's total population at that time.
The Second World War lasted for six years, and sixty countries were involved in the war, accounting for 80% of the world's total population. The number of participants in the war exceeded1.200 million, and the death toll exceeded 50 million.
From the end of World War II to 1994, there were 160 wars in the world, resulting in more than 22 million deaths. Among them, the main wars are Korean War, Vietnam War, Middle East War, Gulf War, Iran-Iraq War and African National War. 2/kloc-0 At the beginning of the 20th century, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq broke out again.
The victims of the war all died before the end of their lives, and no one predicted when and where they would die. All these reflect that Zhou Nan's death date is uncertain. By analogy with war, we can observe: how many people died of diseases such as cancer, AIDS and heart disease today; How many people died in natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, tsunamis and fires; How many people died in political movements and violent murders; How many people died in car accidents, air crashes and food poisoning; How many died of psychological stress and overwork. They all died before their lives ended. If we make a comprehensive observation, we will certainly understand the significance of the uncertainty of life in this world. Especially in today's era, living conditions are getting worse and worse, and sudden death is everywhere. We are born in this era. In this world, it is impossible to be free from karma, and we should not fantasize that our destiny is better than others. Temporary stability does not mean living in a peaceful world. In fact, people are always on the verge of death, and it is difficult to have the guarantee of survival.
Ego is a combination of four kinds of falsehood, and the four kinds of falsehood also violate each other. If the four kinds of falsehood are out of balance and increase, it will lead to various diseases and take away the root of life. These violations are inherent in the self, so the body and life are not guaranteed. Four kinds of equality can maintain health. If one species is added or reduced, it will lead to the imbalance of four species and cause diseases.
Very few living edges:
Because of the sinister world, all living beings are blessed by poor internal remuneration, and their diet, medicines and fruits are devoid of essence and nutrition, making it difficult to cure diseases and preserve health. Internally speaking, there is very little food accumulation at ordinary times, and the evil deeds are serious, so it is extremely weak to recite the longevity mantra, longevity sutra and other rituals, and it is extremely difficult to repair the great blessings, so the fate of living is extremely rare.
The fate of living has also become the fate of death:
In order to survive, seek food, housing, friends, etc. , became the cause of death. In other words, eating food is for survival, and eating more or less or eating inappropriately becomes death; Seeking a house was originally to keep out the cold and summer, but it died because the house collapsed; Looking for relatives and friends was originally to help life, career and so on. Being bullied by relatives and friends. , became a stand-off. Even things that prolong life, such as drugs, often become the cause of death.
Thinking about the above truth, we can know that internal and external factors are called fatal factors, and this life is only the essence of destruction, without any guarantee. If this is clear, the wise should only practice Buddhism, which is the only thing that can be trusted.
Summary: Depending on the body, there are many death causes and few birth causes, because there are many intentional or unintentional death causes, and there are very few birth causes when the five turbidity is extremely high. It is impossible for all birth causes to be death causes (can be established). Many classics say that people die quickly. If we investigate the reasons, there are many reasons for death.
(3), the body is extremely weak, so death is uncertain.
If a person's life itself is strong, it doesn't matter even if more people lose their lives. But the actual situation is just the opposite, as the scripture says: life is like a bubble, like a bubble blown on water, very fragile. You don't need a big injury, even a small injury can destroy the root of life, so it is extremely easy to violate the root of life. The book of relatives and friends says: the robbery is over and the rest is seven days. At that time, the earth, Sumeru and the four seas were all burned out, leaving no dust, let alone extremely weak people.
Conclusion: the body is weak enough to destroy the penis without causing great harm, such as floods, sparks, clouds blown by strong winds, eggs under heavy pressure and water droplets in the fire.
If you think death is indefinite, you should think: I don't know when death will decide to destroy my life. Don't think that you still have leisure, but make repeated wishes and decide to practice Buddhism. Just like the book Nebuchadnezzar said: the dead master never approached anyone, never made an appointment, and suddenly came. Don't think about practicing tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, but practice Buddhism at once. (Second decision)
Yoga is more auspicious than the celebration and happiness of losing friends. Lord! When these four fake bodies are not sick, aging and happy physically and mentally, we should absorb the essence (that is, we should absorb the fearless firmness when we are sick and dying), otherwise, even if we want to repair them when we are sick, aging and aging, what's the use?
The body has its own, why is it called a borrowed body? If it is your own, why can't you take anything with you when you die? Therefore, your body is not dominated by us, but changes with the confused karma. Once the karma is ripe and you don't want to get sick, get old or die, you can't keep it, just borrow it for decades.
Why do you need to suck your heart for physical and mental pleasure? Because when you are young and healthy, you are physically and mentally competent and energetic. At this time, you can get what you want, but you are not afraid of old age or death. On the other hand, if young people don't work hard, once they are old and sick, they will be exhausted and beyond repair. Therefore, physical and mental pleasure requires getting the heart.
The most important of the three fundamentals is that there is no time limit for thinking and death. Just because you don't have time to die, you can change your mind, so study hard.
There used to be a master in Yining Town. Once, the waiter reported to prepare firewood for summer. The master said: there is no guarantee that you and I will be here in summer. What's the use? If you can live until summer, we'll discuss it then. Don't consider such a trivial matter at all.
When Kara Gesi was practicing in the cave, there were thorns at the entrance of the cave, which often scratched his clothes. At first, Gussie wanted to cut the thorns, but later she changed her mind: I may die in the cave, and I don't know if I can go out, but practicing dharma is the most important thing. So I haven't cut it. When Gussie came out of the cave, she thought, I don't know if I can go back to the cave. If you practice in the cave for many years, you will succeed.
