(1) Colombian emeralds. Colombia is the most important producer of emeralds in the world. In the past, 75% of emeralds in the world market were produced in Colombia, and the three most important mining areas, namely Yaomuyu, Chival and Trapiche, were all located in the Andes. Emeralds in these mining areas are generally characterized by clear pure green, and some have special growth line (such as six green arms).
(2) Russian or Siberian emeralds. Mainly produced in the Urals Mountains of Russia, it is characterized by yellow-green, and generally has many defects, such as bamboo-like inclusions, which are lighter in color than Colombian emeralds.
(3) Brazilian emeralds. Mainly some emeralds produced in pegmatite, the color is gray-dark green, often with bright blue tone. In the past, emeralds produced in Brazil had smaller particles, but in the past decade, they also produced gems larger than 5 carats, and the output also increased rapidly, becoming an important emeralds producing area in the world. Unlike Colombian emeralds, emeralds made in Brazil contain more flaws.
(4) Zimbabwean Emerald, also known as Sang Davanne Emerald. It is mainly dark green emerald, but due to many defects, the gem particles of cutting and grinding are small.
⑤ Tanzania Emerald. Gemstones are yellow-green, and high-quality ones can be as beautiful as Colombian emeralds, but most of them can only be used for arc or carving.
(6) Zambian emerald refers to a kind of green emerald, which is dark blue and slightly dark or light gray in color.
The above trade points are only thick lines, and the color system of emeralds varies from country to country. It is the influence of color depth that determines the grade of emerald. The color preferably refers to the medium dark emerald, which can be light blue or light yellow, but too light, too dark or graying will affect the value. Color difference is one level, and the price difference can exceed 50%. The size difference of high-grade emeralds can be higher per carat.
The third factor that defects affect the price of emeralds is defects. The defects of emerald are mainly cotton wool, microcracks and some dark inclusions. In other cases with the same quality, the price difference of defects is as high as several times. General defects differ by one level, and the price difference is about 25%-45%.
