For mopan beads, it has always been a common form of ancient jewelry. Mopan beads are generally made of agate. The most famous ones are Mopan beads in Liao Dynasty and Mopan beads in Western Zhou Dynasty, which are different in many aspects. The specific differences are as follows:

Time: For Mopan Beads, the time span of Mopan Beads in Liao Dynasty is Song Liao, and that of Mopan Beads in Western Zhou Dynasty is Zhou Han.

Perforation skills: Generally, the grinding beads in the Western Zhou Dynasty are all ground holes, so the holes are funnel-shaped. However, due to the progress of drilling technology, the drilling of Liaomopan beads is better, and the aperture is generally smaller. The first one in the picture below is the Western Zhou Mopan bead, and the second one is the Liao Mopan bead.

Surface polishing: Compared with the two kinds of grinding beads, the technological level of Liao Dynasty has been greatly improved, so the polishing in Liao Dynasty is smoother and the grinding beads in Western Zhou Dynasty are rougher. The first one in the picture below is the Western Zhou Dynasty grinding bead, and the second one is the Liao Dynasty grinding bead.

Weathering degree is different: due to different ages, the weathering of mopan beads in the Western Zhou Dynasty is more serious and the weathering lines are obvious. The weathering lines of Mopan beads in Liao Dynasty are generally not as obvious as those in Western Zhou Dynasty.
